I am from the north and don’t know much about alligators but these people seem awfully calm to be that close no matter the size of it.

No real! I have friends down there that have been telling that there have been some very large gators being sighted. Anywhere between 12 and 16 feet.

Have stayed occasioanlly at my BIL's place in Lakeland over the last 6-8 years. Nearby is a wide trail that's used by runners, walker, etc.
My BIL has repeatedly told me it's safe to run there - to which I have adamantly refused to do so.
And seeing this huge freakin' gator is exactly why I don't.

That’s just an old fully grown gator. Nothing unusual.

Born and raised in FL.

The gator is real.

It is probably a perspective illusion. Use the right kind of lens and a close up object can look massive compared to objects in the background. We also make an assumption of how big people are and since we cannot gauge how far away they are, we assume the Gator must be huge to dwarf the size of a six foot person.

They’ve found Nile cross there. Could be a crossbreed.

That’s a little closer than I’d want to be to a gator, but it’s not an unnaturally large one.

That’s not a sight you’d be likely to forget. When they get that big, they make an impression.

By my observation of extended stomach area and disregard to people, he had just finished a large meal.
Better check to see if any tourists are missing at roll call.

My aunt lived in Florida. They were in the pond in the open area of her condo complex. She said to run crooked....really, really fast.

We talked about the shortest distance between two points.

Never did any sunbathing in her back yard.
