I’m lost. How did the now distraught birth mother give up her daughter in the first place? Seems this emotion should have been invested 14 years ago.
The kid was taken from the mom due to allegations of abuse in a shared household.
The best I have been able to ascertain from reading various news articles, both birth parents had problems - the mother, schizophrenia and the father was mentally "deficient". They lived with some relatives and there was an accusation of sexual abuse in that household so the parents, to comply, rented their own apartment, but they really couldn't afford this and the court took the children.
So the parents did not give up the children willingly.
They needed help, perhaps more than was available, but that was necessary in order to keep the family intact.
