I understand that this "factoid" is "generally known" or "accepted wisdom," but is it really true?
Also: Would it make a difference if it were (clinically / statistically) found to be true? After all, "most women also fantasize about rape," right? Does that make raping a grown woman OK?
And maybe most teenage girls have, at some time, fantasized about having a relationship with a male teacher / father of one of their girlfriends. So I guess that - by this logic - all statutory rape laws should be stricken from the books, right?
That's the problem with viewing an issue like this in an isolated fashion. It is important to consider the "bigger picture."
Regards,
The reason she got probation is because most 13 year old boys fantasize about having sex with the mothers of some of their friends.

Recently at a Republican Fundraiser with my adult son. Sat with a lovely woman, a mother to a peer of my son. As we were leaving son commented that the woman was part of the “Hot Mom” club. When I questioned him, he said when he was young the boys all rated moms, and she was on the top of everyone’s list as a Hot Mom.
Good Christian, church-going boys, each and every one.
And frankly she is a Hot Mom. She is physically lovely, and lovely in every other way.
I didn’t dare ask where I was on that list.
