Regarding Fawlty Towers (sometimes known as Warty Towels, etc.), I have the entire series on DVD and enjoy it very much.
Sometimes I’ll play an episode when friends come to visit. No one seems to get it but me. But they don’t get Hee Haw either. I guess both shows are acquired tastes.
I’ve noticed recently they started editing the scene where the Major was talking about N#ggers and Wogs.
British comedy is an acquired taste for Americans.IMO one needs to have some understanding of British society and culture to fully appreciate it.I've been something of an Anglophile for many years and,as a result,at least two thirds of the comedies, dramas, etc in my video library have "BBC" or some other British label on them.Fawlty Towers is widely accepted as the finest British comedy series ever made and I'd have trouble arguing with that although Yes,Prime Minister and the first couple of seasons of Ab Fab aren't far behind.
Don't worry. They're probably from Barcelona
