I went out for lunch yesterday to the local Tex-Mex place. Parking lot was almost full. Uh-oh!

Place was busy, but not bad. OK, cool.

Walked around the corner to get a few things at Kroger.

OMG!

You’d think we were about to be snowed in for a month. The place was mobbed. I bought less than a basket of stuff, mostly fresh things, no milk, no bread, no eggs, which I already had on hand. $20 or so.

It was just out of control. Don’t these people go to grocery normally? The woman in line ahead of me had 4 dozen eggs, and a bunch of bread, but no milk, just some Half and Half. I pointed out this French Toast snowstorm trifecta shortcoming to her. Dunno, they might have been out of milk, I didn’t look.

Just damn on the whole experience.

Been nice knowing ya Laz.

P.S. Can I have your guns?

(I’m thinking of the scene where Jeremiah Johnson pries the Hawkins rifle out of Hatchet Jack’s frozen hands.)

Sigh, we will always remember the Late Great Laz. We need to put up a memorial wall....

Up north we know that it only takes a coating of snow to cause a big mess. Freezing rain is worse. Hunker down until spring.

Also I remember turning on the TV to watch the Atlanta 500 one year and Ned Jarret was sitting in the control booth with a snow covered track. There was more than a dusting that year.

Yikes! My brother and his wife are in a farmhouse of the same age up near Harper Texas right now. Not a good week end to go to the country! I talked to them last night and they were all huddled around the stove wrapped in blankets. Hope they survived the night, glad you did!

Having lived in the New York ‘snow belts’ when I was younger; eight inches of snow isn’t a big deal. I stay inside, though...NO ONE knows how to handle their vehicles on a snowy road around here. The intense cold is scary, though...glad I have a wood stove...it is already cranked. Nice thing about this area...winter only lasts a few days...back to sixty by Wednesday, and the snow will be gone. Sorry, ski areas.

I hope your foodstuffs are in ample supply and in order, looks like you’re gonna need ‘em!

I like my seasons, even the occasional snowfall, but I also enjoy living where winter is just an occasional visitor rather than settling in for the duration.

And there's drifts up to 4 inches in the North Georgia Mountains! The struggle is real. :-D

But seriously, GA used to be even worse in dealing with snow. We had 1 (count 'em - 1 ) truck with a blade for 3 counties when I lived South of Chattanooga when I was a kid. 6 inches of snow pretty much paralyzed us till the plow showed up. :-(

We got about an inch of ice covered with an inch of snow in Roswell.

Our subdivision is hilly and the roads are still solid ice.....

No one is moving..... One car attempted the hill and gave up....

In California, the State is handing out sandbags for the super flood to come, while Governor Moonbeam announced we are in a perpetual drought. Oh, who to believe on which disaster to cower in fear of. Guess I will make a second cup of coffee...

We’re in the deplorable side of Salt Lake County. My four kids work about twelve miles away. Yesterday the wind chill there was -35. They’ve had 195” of snow since Thanksgiving, yet they keep showing up for work, on time, every day!

Capitalists! (Or in fake news new speak: homeschooled subversives.)

Then again, their office is at 11,000 feet, and I imagine Atlanta is a bit closer to sea level, what with the peach trees and race course and stuff.

I used to call the gardener to pick up a fallen palm front this morning. The struggle is real!
