A video of workers feeding plastic into a machine to produce white, rice-like granules has sparked fears on Chinese social media.
Many people said the factory, thought to be located in China, was producing toxic rice out of sheets of plastic.
Other people, however, said the plastic grains were for industrial use.
The two-minute-long footage was widely shared on WeChat, a Chinese social media messaging app, in early November.
In a version of the video, shared by QQ.com, a topless worker can be seen putting dozens of plastic bags into a machine at a dim-lit workshop.
The bags were soon shredded by the spinning saws of the machine before being turned into a long plastic tube.
The worker used a pair of scissors to cut the long strip before putting it into another machine placed next to the first machine.

And don't forget the poisonous drywall from not long ago.
I don’t eat ANY foods made in China, and by American for everything else, as much as possible.
Use your local butcher.
That should read, “buy” American.
China has had so many real food and environmental scandals, the slightest bit of misinformation or rumor can set the Chinese public off in a frenzy.
Plastics are often the color of rice, and can be ground into granules for any number of applications. Even in China, I suspect this is fake news.
Not all rice comes from China.
Meh. Chinese women aren't usually built so well.
Texas Long-grain. A lot of rice is grown here in the USA. California, Texas, etc. It's just that the Chinese rice is cheap as plastic.

Buy local beef and pork
Those deltas are good for that
Good grief!
What your watching is the recycling of plastic bags, they get shredded so the feed easier then they go through the extruder and then the pelletizer. From there it gets dried, bagged and resold to companies in plastics manufacturing or it gets mixed back in with it’s own feed stock. Once melted plastics just like most other materials lose some of their properties so recycled material is introduce to virgin feed stock in small amounts. Western container company makes all the bottles for Coca Cola out here on our Airport, they have 144 cavity molding machines and in the process of molding the preforms or blow molding the preforms they get rejects. Those rejects are shredded and run back through another extruder and pellitized so they can be recycled. These are not drawn out into strings and then cut they come out molten and directly into spinning blades to be cut into a workable size. The reason for peletizings is to get the material small enough so it feeds into the injection molding machines reliably. That is all your seeing here, they’re not making fake rice. What some people will fall for never ceases to amaze me.
Haha we have a friend who is American born Mexican. See him a few times a year at parties at Basque restaurants. When I offer him the bean bowl he says.....I don’t eat beans. Then he’ll explain that as a kid he ate beans every dam day. He can afford to not eat beans now and he doesn’t eat beans. Lol
