Her relative, Gabriela Brandão, a freelance makeup artist from Florianópolis, Brazil, made the discovery after taking a look at the great-grandmothers figurine, and realising something wasnt quite right.
Following her gut instinct, Gabriela searched online for the figure and found one exactly identical to the great-grandmothers.
However, there was only one problem the figure wasnt listed under Saint Anthony, it was in fact listed under Elrond. Oops.

And what action figures did Jesus or the Disciples pray with while contemplating? or Paul? When did this practice become acceptable? The Bible condemns idolatry at any level and fancy words/explanations doesn’t cover it up. There is no justification for it whatsoever.

This is what happens when the Bible is separated from history and reality. The bronze serpent, the heavenly statuary ordered by God in multiple instances of the OT, the wall paintings and mosaics uncovered at multiple ancient Synagogues -- where some Protestants got the notion that the ancient Hebrew world was devoid of imagery is beyond me.

People need to lighten up, its a funny story and funny stuff invites funny comments. I think it's a sad story. A mockery of the way God wishes us to worship Him. YMMV

Where is that bronze serpent today, the very one Moses held? This was a test of the Israelites for obedience. Those who looked were saved. Those who did not died. Nothing about praying.

“where some Protestants got the notion that the ancient Hebrew world was devoid of imagery is beyond me.”
The Jews who bowed down before images were condemned.

PLEASE!
Someone enlighten me as I fail to see that this tidbit is news of any type. Unless it would be family attempting to commit great grandma into a mental hospital.

I pray directly to Jesus (and sometimes the Father) because He came to Earth to set up a direct link to the Father. Folks can pray to a lot of really good, long dead, mortals all they want - I prefer the source.

I think it was you that posted that picture of the “restoration” next to a picture of Bigfoot fleeing in the woods (from that famous film).
That had me laughing for literally days!
The original thread about that story had me laughing so hard. I feel sorry that I get such enjoyment out of it, after all a priceless piece of art has been ruined. But I just can’t help think about how in the world that woman thought “eh, I don’t think anyone will notice” when done.
Or what was she thinking AS she was doing it! LOL
Now I feel bad again haha

Good times. We need to laugh, once in a while. If not at ourselves, at the expense of others. Carry on. :)
Tons of funny memes sprang up after that story

God looks upon the heart, not upon the form of worship. If her intent was to pray to Him, no harm done.

I assume that whatever church you go to has no representations of Christ on a crucifix, or a nativity scene during Christmas.
There is a difference between a thing like a crucifix being used for focus, and praying to the object. Even this old lady was quite sure that the figurine wasn’t a saint.
