"With just over two weeks to go until Americans wave goodbye to Mr. Obama and the words "former president" can be put in front of his name, those of us who've been sinking in the quagmire of anti-gun legislation prepare for a new, and different, sheriff in town. And it couldn't come fast enough.
Yes sir, times, they are a-changin' at least regarding the prospect of firearm legislation, specifically concerning gun-free zones and concealed carry permits. Before the gun-grabbers start to spin out of control, let's just say up front that the purpose of this article is not to suggest that everybody and anybody should be ready to lock and load. But it does seem logical that those who have been taught a modicum of firearm safety and the proper handling of a gun should no longer be prohibited from carrying a firearm to protect themselves from violence and perhaps even terrorism.
It is certainly nice to know that the future president shares these views. While it's understandable that gun legislation has become an emotionally charged issue, this seems like an opportune time to cull together the facts about an armed citizenry and allow reason to prevail.
At year's end, the NRA Institute for Legislative Action cited an article on Breitbart that enumerated "20 Times Bad Guys were Stopped by Armed Citizens" in 2016. The NRA then followed up with an article from the Crime Prevention Research Center cataloguing another eleven crimes that were terminated..."

For years, the gun-grabbers have had their way with firearm legislation, and this has led to a nightmare of local laws that have ordinary citizens afraid to lock and load. But on January 20, there will be a new sheriff in town, and it is entirely possible and right that this nightmare of laws and restrictions should come to an end.
Federal Government’s job when it comes to anything is to follow the Constitution period.
Guns are already covered by the 2nd amendment and any state that tries to pass laws that interfere with the 2nd amendment should be shot down (no pun intended) by the Supreme Court.
A simple ruling would read “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
This article was all about concealed carry - specifically, about reciprocity between jurisdictions. I’m all for that, because if a marriage or a drivers license has to be recognized from one state or county to another, then so should firearms-related rights.
However, I want MORE. I want the Hearing Protection Act, so that suppressors become over-the-counter items without a serial number or any permission needed to buy one. I want the ‘86 ban on new full autos repealed. I want short-barreled guns off of the list of prohibited-without-permission. Hell, I want the whole NFA to be repealed, but I know that realistically that won’t happen - but we can chip away at it.
“However, I want MORE. ...”
Right there with ya!!!
The tag, from “The Weapon Shop of Isher?”
KYPD
Yup.
Yep, seems pretty clear that most states are infringing our rights.
Bkmk
Anything would be positive progress. The only problem with the national reciprocity proposed law is that it would only be recognized if you have a concealed carry permit in a state. For those citizens living in the states of California, Illinois, Hawaii, New Jersey, etc. where concealed carry is very difficult to obtain, you’re out of luck. Those state laws are clearly unconstitutional but no one will stop them. Try putting restrictions on abortion nationally and watch liberals go crazy. The new gun laws have to written to free all the slaves, not just slaves in certain states.
Then why bother to fund NRA, GOA or any other gun rights organization? They are not on the attack, but quick enough to accept donations!

My brother has a concealed carry permit in PA & his rights to carry are contiguous in NY & NJ - NY State is contiguous in all Counties of the State, with the ONLY exception being the five boroughs of NYC!
HMMM...
If the Constitution was really written to protect the right to have and carry guns, it would have contained the words “keep and bear arms”. Oh, wait...
That's just a baby step in the right direction - all States should be forced to follow the Constitution and have "reciprocity" with it....no need for license/permit.
You better check that. Jersey will throw people in jail for having a concealed carry permit from Pennsylvania and bringing their permit and their weapon in NJ. Google it. People have gone to prison over NJ’s stupid law. Unless your brother is a retired law-enforcement WITH special permission or a Secret Service agent or something, I don’t know how he can do it.
What I want, as a CCW holder, is the right to have a firearm shipped direct to me rather than an FFL and his $30 fee. I also want the ability to buy a firearm, specifically handguns, in another state.
In effect, with a CCW, I have passed both a state and federal background check, so what is the argument against that, other than harassment?
