Ridiculous. You’re entitled to a speedy trial; 18 months is NOT “speedy”.
The delay was caused by the defense lawyers demanding more time to interview witnesses, form their defense strategy, etc.
If memory serves, in Texas, you get a trial in 120 days, unless your lawyer requests a delay.
