Earlier than that, while he was Speaker. One incident was his betrayal of the woman whom he nominated for House Historian. She was unjustly slandered as being an anti-Semite and Newt tossed her under the bus instead of defending her. The ADL of all people rose to her defense when Newt wouldn’t. It was cold political calculation and cowardice.

>> they’ll “lose their nerve” – and faced with flak from the left, “give in.”

Fragments...

Newt was/is a far better asset to Trump than Newsmax.

Not sure who he is anymore - smart as he is, he has said some stupid things lately. Fortunately, Trump has steel in his spine and ebonite in his jock strap...

One never knows what might happen. There will be an avalanche of deadly threats made against President Trump’s family, one could even be successful. Newt has a lot of insight into the criminals acts the demrats are capable of. Newt paid a big price for standing up to the rats as have many others. There are just too many of them to kill.

Thanks, I don’t know why that rings no bells for me. I guess I missed it altogether. Though back then I was more likely less engaged than I am today.

The left and their media are the masters at dividing the opposition. Going back before Nixon they have destroyed many fine leaders and will do so again. Newt knows his history and has watched the left turn many fine conservative supporters against each other. The threats to Trump’s family will be endless.

Trump WILL STAND his ground this man has NO FEAR!!!! He CAN NOT be bought and neither can his cabinet!!!! Trump WILL DO whatever it takes to protect his family but he WILL NOT BACK DOWN!!!! I believe the more these BASTARDS poke the bear the more DETERMINED he becomes, to find difficulty find entertainment for the inauguration is just the icing on the cake!!! As he digs into what the HELL is going on in DC the MORE PISSED and determined he will become, government contractors better hold onto their hats and those beholden to them better expect to be OUTED sooner rather than later!!! McShame and Grahamnesty will be looking to spend more time with family!!!!!

A thousand times this has happened. Every ally of a conservative pro American, is attacked by the left’s criminal media turning conservatives against some of their own best supporters. It is a tactical manuveur of the left’s media. Newt is not the enemy.

Graham and McCain are clearly, not conservatives. I pray you are right and I pray The Lord will protect and direct President Trump and his family.

Well said.

Yet, I’m still inclined to see Newt as “projecting” inasmuch as he is a pure politician. And politicians, if they’re nothing else, are individuals who lack core values and are immeasurably “flexible”. This “quality” allows them to shift their positions on almost any given issue at the drop of a dime.

Newt’s out of politics these days, but he cannot change his stripes––he is still a politician at heart. He understands what any red-blooded politician would do when they feel the pressure and see the future media accolades for being “wise’ enough to change course, so he projects himself into that position.

While Newt, in his heart of hearts knows that having the courage of one’s convictions is infinitely more admirable, he still sees Trump as politician and is cautioning him not to take the route that he, as a politician, would almost certainly take. I just don’t believe that hard-core politicians can think any other way.

And yes, the enemy will have the opportunity to take their shots, but where Trump may be more successful than any earlier POTUS, I believe he correctly sees the enemy, not as the Democrats or the Republicans, but the media. He must know that their objective has been one of promoting “dependency” by everyone on government, with the eventual goal of globalization.

Now whether Trump will be successful as a non-politician is something else again. Under “normal” circumstances I would say he hasn’t a chance. But then, although I was for Trump from the moment he came down the escalator (my wife and I attended 9 of his rallies), I can’t remember the number of times I wrote him off, believing that “his last statement” was it. Of course I was wrong each time, and for that reason I’m convinced that Whoever brought him to this point in time will carry him on further. At least that is what I hope and pray for.
