A Russian photographer explores the relationship children have with their big dogs. These photos are gorgeous.

This is true, but I think it doesn’t always depend on the size but also the lines. I know that my dogs are larger than average GSD (posted a bit ago about my 145 pound male that’s going on 12) and there are plenty of 13 year olds in the pedigree. It just depends, but in general though unfortunately the larger ones don’t live as long, on average, as the smaller.
That’s good to hear! I spray diluted apple cider vinegar on mine occasionally, helps to keep bacteria growth at bay.
They’re both gorgeous. I don’t think that I could take the short lifespan, though.
Danes are such gentle dogs.
Thanks for a great thread & amazing pictures. I could not bring it up until I used this link. Thanks!
Wonderful images! Great dogs & kiddles. Great post.
BIG dogs rule!
I think those are Newfoundlands — of the brown variety.
Beautiful! (both the dog and the girl)
Thanks. I just misidentified them as brown Newfies. My mistake.
Get a fresh hankie and go to the photographer’s website for more awesome pictures. He could divide his collection into 12s and publish calendars. I know that he’d sell a lot of them — worldwide.
Thank you! That big boy raised 4 of my babies (heck, he is only a few months younger than #2, and then 3 and 4 came along later, haha), and he loves babies of ALL varieties :) I still think the dogs listen better than the kids most times...
My 4 month old Golden puppy has eaten my Nordstrom payment, several fresh rolls of paper towels stolen out of the cupboard, church bulletin, gloves, socks, leashes, a harness, anything wood he can get hold of, boots, the cover of my new refrigerator manual within 10 minutes of delivery, etc., etc. He pulled 1/2 a case of V-8 off the counter on his head a few weeks ago. In case you are wondering, we push all of this stuff back as far as we can. He can just reach an amazingly long way.
Tonight we just installed a rack to hold outgoing mail way up high over the sink. There is no way he can reach that. I can barely reach it.
Why would anyone, outside a city, pick up poop? It degrades into the soil fairly quickly. Our newfie’s are huge but nowhere nearly as toxic as the kitties. Whoo, they can send a nuclear blast that immediately explodes throughout the entire house.
I know what you mean, even a 70 lbs high energy dog is getting to be a bit much for me. There are some nice dogs in the 20-40 lbs range.
Your dog is a beauty and 12 is really good for a dog that size. I have friends that had Irish Wolfhounds, a bit larger, and 12 would have been an extremely old one.
My daughter’s Siberian husky would run up to adults and jump up, putting his paws on them, but when my 2 year old granddaughter approached him, he would run up to her, and hold back, without jumping on her.
I can’t imagine life without a Dane or a Scottish Deerhound. They are very alike in temperament. Currently have an extra large Dane, 39 inches and 175 pounds. Such a love.
Awwwwww.
I must admit, after feeling a bit down today these photos made my day! Thanks for posting.
