New Year's Eve partygoers are being warned to watch out for counterfeit alcohol laced with chemicals which can cause serious illness and even death.
Thousands of litres of fake booze have been confiscated nationwide, the Local Government Association (LGA) says.
Tests on one seized stash of illicit vodka found dangerous quantities of cleaning products and paint solvent which could cause vomiting, permanent blindness and liver problems if it was consumed.
Warning signs that your New Year bottle of booze might be a knock-off include wonky labels littered with spelling mistakes, as well as unfamiliar brand names.

Good thing very few of us Freepers are ringing in the New Year in England.
Another fake news article attacking entrepreneurs in the Ozarks. Look for people there to finally find their way to the welfare and employment security offices when their still gets shut down due to lack of business or raw materials. Sad our changing business scopes. And if the Food and Drug Administration gets into them, the cost of product will triple and they will have to pay taxes being defined as a supplement. But, at least they can advertise on HSN or QVC. Good thing they didn’t do this back when Mike Roy was doing that.

Not long ago, Russians were buying antifreeze (or wood alcohol?) in FL, their chemists figured out how to clean out additives and they were selling it as vodka back to USSA.
I prefer Tequila and Mezcal, very medicinal made from cactus, not from GMOed pesticized grrrrains like “vodka”.

My problem is I used up my share of medicine, so to speak, of every and all kinds, and a good share of other people's too, nearly twenty years ago.
God offers blessings and bounties beyond imagining...and yet there are those of us who can't be trusted to enjoy and appreciate even some of His gifts sensibly.
Exactly. I don’t understand why someone would consume copious amounts of alcohol of dubious origin. Not like a sufficient quantity of enjoyable desirable intoxicants isn’t affordable.
