Let her resign; it’s her right. Personally, I dream of singing in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir just one time, so I think she’s crazy to give up such a gig. There’s some other Mormon on the wait list eager to move into her slot. She doesn’t need to make a grand statement to get attention. Just leave already, for Pete’s sake!
I resigned from a large city choir because “Ave Maria” was on the program. The melody is amazingly beautiful, but the lyrics... Anyhow, there was some other alto on that wait list eager to move into my slot. I didn’t make a big deal out of it, or even inform the director of the reason, as it was a personal thing. He makes the choices for the group, as is his right. Members have the choice to either go along or move on.

Being an MTC member requires a LOT of commitment of time and money.
