"The demise of the Soviet Union was the 'greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century'," Putin said in 2005.

"Putin said Stalin deserves statues in his honor"

Very touching video of a cute young Russian girl singing with the RAC. The song is about lonely soldiers at the front. (Also a double meaning I think with her name being Katusha.)

The RAC was on their way to do sort of a Bob Hopeski’s Christmas Special visit to the troops in Syria.

This video is not new, I doubt she was on the plane, I hope these guys weren’t either, but God bless them all. I never hated the Russians, just Communism.

Perhaps the reconstituted choir they organize in the aftermath can be renamed the Russian Army Choir.

A group from my choir attended a performance by The Russian State Chorus. They were fantastic. We got to mingle a bit afterwards and they were friendly and gracious. The Russians take their arts very seriously. This is the kind of thing that brings people together and we should all be mourning the loss.

It is a real tragedy. They lost an entire pro hockey team on takeoff just a few years ago.

Putting all politics aside, if you ever heard them sing, you would know they were really good. A sad loss.

“Also a double meaning I think with her name being Katusha.”

Please explain. I did some research and didn’t come up with much. I’ve got four granddaughters and the thought of that beautiful girl being lost is heartbreaking. Please see my post #26

The RAC was on their way to do sort of a Bob Hopeski’s Christmas Special visit to the troops in Syria.

The Russians are in the oil/gas-rich Middle East primarily as part of Putin's long-range goal to bring back the evil empire that was the Soviet Union, or something similar to it, communist or not.

I never hated the Russians, just Communism.

I don't hate the Russian people either. Whether their leaders are genuinely done with Communism remains to be seen. It is conceivable that what they've done over the past several decades in terms of "reform" is merely a grand deception. Point is they are still basically a totalitarian dictatorship. And still very much evil and expansionist, and an obvious threat to their neighbors.

This story and the story of the Russian ambassador to Turkey being assassinated would be bad enough without Borax Obozo declaring himself to be the prime suspect for everything like this that ever comes down the road...

It was no "mishap" or "oversight" that the Trump team chose Mike Pence to be the VP.

Again from the Oct 5, 2016 VP debate...

MIKE PENCE: What we’re dealing with is the — you know, there’s an old proverb that says the Russian bear never dies, it just hibernates.

And the truth of the matter is, the weak and feckless foreign policy of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama has awakened an aggression in Russia that first appeared a few years ago with their move in Georgia, now their move into Crimea, now their move into the wider Middle East.

And all the while, all we do is fold our arms and say we’re not having talks anymore.

Donald Trump: 'Putin has eaten Obama's lunch' on Ukraine

Mar 13, 2014
Eun Kyung Kim: TODAY

Donald Trump slammed President Obama Thursday on TODAY for failing to take a stronger line against President Vladimir Putin in dealing with Ukraine, saying he feared Obama would now make up for lost time with imprudent moves to "show his manhood."

The real estate mogul and reality-TV star, who has criticized Putin for sending military troops into Crimea, said Obama must now take fierce steps to prevent the situation from escalating further.

"We should definitely do sanctions and we have to show some strengths. I mean, Putin has eaten Obama's lunch, therefore our lunch, for a long period of time," Trump said. ..."

Something to consider as a definite possibility...

Did Communism Fake Its Own Death in 1991?
American Thinker ^ | January 16, 2010 | Jason McNew

In a [] 1984 book [New Lies for Old], ex-KGB Major Anatoliy Golitsyn predicted the liberalization of the Soviet Bloc and claimed that it would be a strategic deception. ..."

"Golitsyn's argument was that beginning in about 1960, the Soviet Union embarked on a strategy of massive long-range strategic deception which would span several decades and result in the destruction of Western capitalism and the erection of a communist world government."

"Golitsyn published his second book, The Perestroika Deception, after the Soviet Union was dissolved in 1991. This book contained further analysis of the liberalization, in addition to previously classified memoranda submitted by Golitsyn to the CIA. The two books must be read together to get a complete picture of Golitsyn's thesis."

Good friggin grief are some of us gullible. The Russians must laugh their butts off at how easily they can manipulate minds over here. But then they are the grand masters of deception.
