Recommendations on buying US-made leather coat for wife
12/26/16 | daltec

Hello, wife's birthday is approaching and she has hinted she would like a made in the US leather coat or jacket. She likes the styling of some of the Schott jackets, but at the bottom of most of the ones she likes is "Union Made in the U.S.A by LOCAL 169 of WORKERS UNITED A/W SEIU."

We definitely want made in the US, from US-sourced materials (i.e. not assembled in the US from foreign components). We want to support American workers, and generally don't have a problem with supporting unions, but maybe not THAT one.

Most of the other examples I have looked at are more like motorcycle leathers, or are in that style, which is definitely not her. I would welcome any advice from fellow FReepers on buying American-made.

Thank you in advance. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Thank you Engedi, the 3018 and 7059 look like her style. Plus their website says a few stores in our area carry them. I will check them out this week! I appreciate the tip.

Thanks everybody for all of the great suggestions! I appreciate them! It's not easy to find made in US products, so I am thankful for all of the great research material you all posted.

BTW, you know you are on a great site with really helpful and knowledgeable people, when I mouse over the screen names and see how long some of you have been here. I joined FR in 2008, and I am the newbie! :-)

Thank you all again, you have been a great help. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
