Hello, wife's birthday is approaching and she has hinted she would like a made in the US leather coat or jacket. She likes the styling of some of the Schott jackets, but at the bottom of most of the ones she likes is "Union Made in the U.S.A by LOCAL 169 of WORKERS UNITED A/W SEIU."
We definitely want made in the US, from US-sourced materials (i.e. not assembled in the US from foreign components). We want to support American workers, and generally don't have a problem with supporting unions, but maybe not THAT one.
Most of the other examples I have looked at are more like motorcycle leathers, or are in that style, which is definitely not her. I would welcome any advice from fellow FReepers on buying American-made.
Thank you in advance. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Swing by a Harley Davidson Shop,
Don’t buy it from a vegan . . .
http://www.hideandsoul.com very good quality Mom and pop shop that will do custom work.
No kidding... those fruit leather coats are awful; sticky in warm weather and they fall apart at the seams in the rain.
They won’t be cheap. http://www.overland.com/product/womens-coats-made-in-the-usa
Wouldn't she like to have a custom made leather coat? Maybe a custom holster for you.
Try tanhides in Jackson WI. Thy use only US deer hides. Not expensive
Neil Cooper . They sell through retailers, you should be able to find stores carrying them.
Try Reedsportswear.com. I’ve had a leather jacket for them for 5 years, it gets better every year!

I’ve had a Reed’s leather jacket for 20 years, zipper gave out but jacket is still awesome. Non-US, Florence, Italy has the finest leather in the world.
If you can find a jacket that’s US made,it’ll be the only thing in the store. (Including behind the parts counter.)
The zipper on my Willabee & Ward leather M-65 field jacket may be on it's last legs. And a few snaps are broken.
Its only a couple years over 30 yrs old. Its been my go to jacket all this time.
I second the Remy recommendation. Best I’ve found.
Look for the union label
when you are buying that coat, dress or blouse.
Remember somewhere our union’s sewing,
our wages going to feed the kids, and run the house.
We work hard, but who’s complaining?
Thanks to the I.L.G. we’re paying our way!
So always look for the union label,
it says we’re able to make it in the U.S.A.!
Fox Creek Leather! All hand made, family owned, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway! Best jacket I ever owned!
