The Minnesota Vikings defensive backs defied head coach Mike Zimmer on Saturday, and their decision backfired. Zimmer, a defensive-oriented coach, wanted cornerback Xavier Rhodes to shadow Green Bay Packers receiver Jordy Nelson for the whole game. Instead, the Vikings defensive backs got together and decided that they could handle Nelson without making a special plan for Rhodes.

It took the defensive coaches two quarters to notice that their DBs weren’t playing the game plan?
Why the heck would they do that?
Person vendetta perhaps?
If Zimmer were black and Rhodes was white, can you imagine what ESPN and the NFL Network talking heads would say? And they would say it 24/7, especially since they lost on two or three Nelson TD’s.
I used to never miss a Packers-Vikes game.
The NFL has become a dim memory after 50 years of watching, haven’t seen one game this season.
Disrespecting the nation they purport to be the football league of was stupid.
Person = Personal
Powerful metaphor for the modern people of GOP Inc.
They noticed right away. What took ‘em so long was trying to decide what to do about it. Coaching staff need some neuticles.
I guess they thought they didn’t need no stinkin special game plan just to cover a white guy. :)
Maybe the Vikings defensive backs had Jordy Nelsob on their fantasy football teams :o).
Gordy Nelson had 141 yards and two TDs in the first half, using the improvised game plan, 9 yards and no TDs in the second half following the Zimmer’s. Maybe the coach knows something.
Or Ditka, or Parcells.
And fans want to blame the coach.....
Sit them out. It hurts the whole team, but the other players will put pressure on them to listen to the coaches.
Detroit noticed and we were not pleased.
The NFL has a real problem with the indiscipline of its black players. The relative handful of whites still allowed to play by the PC leadership of the NFL dpn’t seem to have this problem, although I am sure that there are exceptions on either side.
I think it’s ironic that the beneficiary of the Vikings screwup, was the NFL’s top white wide receiver, Jordy Nelson.
Jordy lost all of 2015 to a knee injury, and, indeed, seemed to have lost a step in the early weeks of his comeback year.
Now, he has 14 touchdowns on the season. Must be doing something right, notwithstanding the Vikings’ mistakes!
I guess if Jordy Neslon wasn’t flopping sides or in motion much (unlikely, I admit) then it’s just possible that the coaching staff didn’t notice it for a while?
It’s like that tv ad which I and the former second Mrs. Lurkin quote to our kids: “We know a few things because we’ve seen a few things.”
BLMers doing their thing?
