Ted Cruz’s campaign manager reportedly wants to be … Trump’s new political director

What do you think, fellow Cruzers (or ex-Cruzers in my case)? Good news or bad?

You could make the case that Trump owes him the job. It was Jeff Roe, remember, who handed Team Cruz’s internal polling data to Team Trump before the New Hampshire primary in order to help Trump win there. Roe and Cruz thought Trump would be an easier opponent in South Carolina than, say, Marco Rubio would be, so they did what they could to facilitate Trump’s stepping-stone victory in NH. Clearly that’s the sort of fancy strategizin’ Trump should want in a new political director for his presidency.

Jeff Roe, a prominent Republican Party strategist who managed Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign, has been seeking a job in the Trump administration – possibly as political director, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

Roe, a hard-charging, Missouri-based operative who has also worked for a number of congressional Republicans, was spotted in Trump Tower on Wednesday. Several of his friends said that in recent weeks he had expressed serious interest in joining Trump’s team, and two sources close to the transition said that Roe had embarked on an aggressive push for the political director job.

No, she managed the Keep the Promise PACs which were the Mercer money that also came over with Kellyanne and the Breitbart gang to the Trump team.

From the Wikipedia page on Kellyanne Conway:

"In the 2016 Republican presidential campaign, Conway endorsed Ted Cruz and chaired a pro-Cruz political action committee."

Maybe it's BS, that wouldn't surprise me.

The Cruz stain is putrid. If I were Trump, I wouldn’t let the filthy bastard within a block of my hotel.

All these campaign managers and consultants are nothing but leeches. The jump on the bandwagon after a successful outcome and pretend they have something to offer. My daughter and I volunteered on a campaign and when it became apparent our candidate would win, these slimy leeches showed up for the last week and tried to take over. Then I’m sure they took credit for the win. Political types are jerks.

Trump showed just how useless most of them are... He won spending far less than anyone believed possible... because he and his team recognized that most of the money spent on political campaigns is waisted.

I don’t begrudge someone because they worked on a losing campaign, someone had to take the job.. but anyone who was advising Cruz I would be leery as hell of. Whether by Cruz’s own hand, or at the behest of his handlers, he ran a terrible campaign, did all sorts of things that just weren’t going to endear him to anyone... basically Cruz’s ambition was beyond his abilities and it showed.

He could have used this as a change to build for the future when it was clear he couldn’t win it.... but instead he was very very short sighted, and the campaign did all sorts of things that will keep the stink on him for a long long time to come. He’s a young guy, plenty more chances to go again at it, but now, I don’t see any calculus where he’ll get taken serious by a majority of the Republican electorate as a candidate. Politics is a wild ride, so maybe I will be wrong, but I think Mr Cruz will need to have a quiet, low key career for another few decades before he can have a shot at tossing his hat into the ring for the presidency again and not be washed out quickly.

But anyway, as a general rule of thumb, I’d be very wary of anyone tied to his campaign.

As for Roe, and other nevertrumpers like Romney, they need to spend the next 4 years proving themselves capable of being loyal team players. In Roe's case, it could be by working on some campaigns of Trump allies and/or for think tanks or causes that are pushing Trump causes. If they get results and show that they are on the train, in 4 years maybe they can help with the next campaign. If they do good there, maybe they can be involved in the second term.

That's my view.

Uh, wasn’t this the scumbag who directed all of the dirty campaign tricks for Cruz, like the threatening letter in Iowa and many other dirty tricks?

President Trump should stay miles away from this dirtbag.

Missouri carried an entire ballot to Republican victory in every office...and Roe didn’t have a thing to do with any of them. Any smart candidate should have nothing to do with Loser Roe. The only thing he can’t seem to lose is weight... cruel but true.
