Ivanka Trump To Get Office In White House Space Reserved For First Lady (winning!)
UK Telegraph ^ | 14 DECEMBER 2016 • 11:20PM | David Lawler

Ivanka Trump will reportedly have an office in an area of the White House typically reserved for the first lady after her father becomes president.

The reports come amid speculation as to what part Donald Trump’s eldest daughter will play in his administration.

Ms Trump has been an influential figure throughout the campaign and transition process, and it emerged last week that she would be taking a leave of absence from the Trump Organisation, where she is an executive vice president, and moving to Washington along with her husband Jared Kushner, who serves as one of his father-in-law’s closest advisers.

Meanwhile Melania Trump, the president-elect’s wife, will remain in New York until her ten-year-old son Barron finishes school.

Those announcements presented the possibility that Ivanka would fill in for her stepmother as first lady.

While that would be an unusual arrangement, CNN reported on Wednesday that Ms Trump will have an office in the East Wing of the White House, in an area typically reserved for the first lady.

The network attributed that report to a transition source, who added that Ms Trump’s official White House title was still to be determined.

While it remains unclear whether Ms Trump will become the de facto first lady, she is expected to continue to work closely with her father after he takes office. She sat in on Mr Trump’s meeting last month with prime minister Shinzo Abe of Japan, and is on the executive committee overseeing his transition to the presidency.

If I didn’t trust Trump, I wouldn’t have voted for him.

And I am not going to spend every day of the next four years hyperventilating over everything he does or does not do.

He hasn’t done a single thing to cause me any sort of alarm since he’s won.

Nothing.

I voted for Trump to lead, and he is most definitely leading.

I am most pleased.

I even voted for Trump knowing that he is more liberal than I am on certain things.

I’m totally fine with that.

I also voted for Trump knowing that he is more conservative on some things that so-called conservatives are. Illegal immigration for instance.

As far as I am concerned, if Trump never does a single other thing in his life, he is an American hero for running for president at such a time that it prevented a Hillary Clinton presidency.

I LOVE him for that. LOVE! He should have a place on Mount Rushmore for that alone.

And just judging from things and occurrences early on, this man appears to be a grab the bull by the horns ball of pure flame that is incredibly serious about doing exactly what he said.

And all the whining and fidgeting from people around here is really obnoxious.

"Ivanka wants a babysitter, subsidized by the federal government, for all mothers. Nature already provided one free of charge. She’s called “Mom”."

How many jobs can Ivanka juggle at one time, be a wife AND be a mother to three children? Nothing will receive 100% or 50% of her attention. She's setting a very bad example. She scares me.

Melania, on the other hand, shows that she is a loving caring mother, putting her son first. She sets a good example. America will survive those few months without her in the White House.

“I voted for ‘The Donald’, not his daughter...”

Sums it up for me too!

Helping “Daddy” win the election is one thing, having substantial influence over he who will be the most powerful man in the world, is another thing altogether.

Trump is the President of the United States, and you are some random person on an internet forum.

Can't argue with that! LOL!

But I am also one of the random persons who on this Internet forum among other avenues, including local venues, spoke against the opposition. I personally defended and explained Trump's policy proposals and contributed dollars and time on the ground to Trump's campaign victory---- choosing to ignore those whispering that my efforts were a waste of time and money.

So, please, do not diminish my role in, dedication to and joy in Donald Trump's victory. And do not diminish my opinion on his choices --- even if it disagrees with the majority opinion enamored with Trump's daughter.

Thanks ever so.

I don’t expect Trump to be please us with every move he makes.

There will be some things we’re not going to like. There are also going to be many things we’re going to love.

When I look back at the G.W. years, I wasn’t pleased most of the time. Overall, the guy stunk up the place. There were a few bright spots.

With Trump it will be just the reverse IMO. I’m going to like a lot of what he does, and not like some things.

I am very impressed with his picks so far. They are all capable people, although some fo them do have baggage. The question is, will Trump keep to his promises and guide them properly?

I think he will. We’ll have plenty of time to skewer him as time goes by. I think Ivanka will do fine. I’m not sure what her role will be, but I am pretty sure she’s standing in for Melania.

These are dignitary events, and she’ll represent us well at them. When you get down on that, think ‘the moose’ and you’ll feel better right away.

I’d like to see Trump’s grandchildren skipping through the halls. It’s been a long time since little ones were in the WH.

That’s very good, and I am glad to hear that.

But what you must do now is give him the opportunity to lead.

You put your trust and your vote in him, so let him run, that’s what he does.

As far as Ivanka goes, yep, I’m pretty sure she’s a liberal. I’m not enamored of her, even though I do think that she is a lovely and very well spoken woman.

But I do know this. She’s the apple of Trump’s eye. He thinks very highly of her, and I like that.

A dad should be proud of his daughter, and a daughter should be proud of her dad, and they are. It’s beautiful, and it’s American.

If he wants her in the WH with him, that’s great, and I support it.

He’s a smart man, and this isn’t causing me alarm.

Also, consider this.

It could be Hillary Clinton carving out office space for Chelsea instead.

Let’s count our blessings.

[Jared and Ivanka] are way out of their league and have no business being near these political decisions.

Jared certainly isn't out of his league. If it weren't for Jared's pivotal role, Donald Trump probably wouldn't have won this election.

As for Ivanka, if Trump wants her there, then that's perfectly fine.

"Way out of their league", my ass. How very parochial of you...

Cool... I'm thinking holidays are the best time for this.

Day to day, I'd rather see his wife and 10 year old son "skipping through the halls". They are, after all, our First Family. :^)

~Rewriting the tax code to allow working parents to deduct from their income taxes child care expenses for up to four children and elderly dependents.

~Allow parents to enroll in tax-free dependent care savings accounts for their children or elderly relatives.

I am not a parent nor married so I'm slightly ticked and feel like a non citizen. Do I get any deductions for taking care of an elderly? And why do I have to support a stranger's child when I have none of my own?

I thought that with trump's new economy, people will earn better wages and will be able to live comfortably.

Ivanka, go away.

I most certainly did ... and happily so.

But Trump always told us his kids were going to take over his business ... not take root as the inner circle of his administration and plant the roots of his possible impeachment due to conflicts of interest.

I believed him when Trump said he was fighting for America. He can't fight for us and defend his childrens' role at the same time.

The kids need to bow out and stay in NY ... and pour their energies into the Trump business and their children----just like Trump said they would.

Finally the voice of reason.

He’s been highly successful and efficient in running a billion dollar enterprise, I’m sure he can figure this out. He has made a lot of very positive choices and decisions, thus far.

He saved our country from complete destruction and will build it back even better.

The criticizers and nit pickers are the ones who did not vote for him in the primary election. Many have a great deal of envy and anger that has not dissipated. Others are people with a traditional WH image in mind and they are afraid and resistant to change.

I have faith in him and his decision making. There is no reason to be over wrought about office space and policy speculation.
