Burn Down the Suburbs?
National Review Online ^ | Aug 1, 2012 | Stanley Kurtz

Obama is not a fan of America’s suburbs. Indeed, he intends to abolish them. Obama is a longtime supporter of “regionalism,” the idea that the suburbs should be folded into the cities, merging schools, housing, transportation, and above all taxation.

One of Obama’s original trainers, Mike Kruglik, has hived off a new organization called Building One America

In July of 2011, Kruglik’s Building One America held a conference at the White House.

The ultimate goal [] is quite literally to abolish the suburbs.

One approach is to force suburban residents into densely packed cities by blocking development on the outskirts of metropolitan areas, and by discouraging driving with a blizzard of taxes, fees, and regulations. Step two is to move the poor out of cities by imposing low-income-housing quotas on development in middle-class suburbs. Step three is to export the controversial “regional tax-base sharing” scheme currently in place in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area to the rest of the country.

The centerpiece of the Obama administration’s anti-suburban plans is a little-known and seemingly modest program called the Sustainable Communities Initiative. The “regional planning grants” funded under this initiative — many of them in battleground states like Florida, Virginia, and Ohio — are set to recommend redistributive policies, as well as transportation and development plans, designed to undercut America’s suburbs.

Seattle just upgraded some of their streets. Turned parking spaces into “green zones”. New high rises are not required to provide parking. All to encourage living and working in town, and to push mass transit on commuters.

In my suburb they are building like crazing in the downtown area. Tearing down the old one-story buildings (old bars, old four-store strip malls, one-story western wearhouse, etc.) and putting up 8 story condos with designer shops on the ground floor. And at the same time putting funds into “legacy farms” two miles away.

I think technology may save us. Self-driving cars will take us home, or to work, and then we tell it to "go park" and it drives itself off to a dedicated parking lot. When we need it next we call it on our phone and tell it to come get us. Now we may have to rent the parking space, but it doesn't have to be that all close if we are city dwellers.

Now that is not the future envisioned by the car people, they want us to use fleets of shared, self-driving taxis. That is not for me, not until they invent the self-cleaning taxi. I am not getting into a taxi that some drunk has just barfed in, and neither is my family. Not even once will I get into a shared vehicle that someone with AIDS has been in. We will own the car.

I hope Trump is aware of all these regional changes folding all groups into Singaporian type cities...from education to supurbs.

This is the way that total citizen control will take place. I think we should be on the alert for all telecommunications control. I think we should really be on the alert for all fake news that might cause large groups of us to coalesce in specific areas.

That's the left, giving beneficial sounding names to destructive policies.
