My Vasques have been places, seen things. Weird to be so attached to them.
I have a large pile of Lodge hardware in this household. I’ve filled up a shopping cart a couple times at the mothership factory outlet in South Pittsburgh.
I understand my coffee has Bailey’s Irish Creme.
Yikes.
They are indeed pretreated now, and it’s an adequate seasoning, though nothing like what you develop in use.
I did the factory tour 6-8 years ago, and saw how they did it. Basically, they electrostatically charge an oil mist, haul the cookware through on a conveyor with the opposite charge, and BAM, instant seasoning.
Take a look the next time you’re in Wal-Mart.
Regarding Lodge factory tours, it used to be they did them one week a year during plant shutdown, which was in Springtime during the Cornbread Festival in South Pittsburgh.
And as I noted previously, I agree on the factory store, I’ve bought a ton there. Almost literally.
