I have never liked Clapton.
Personally he was offputting.
Musically (my opinion) highly overrated.
There was only one Clapton song that I truly loved.
I attribute that affection more to the contribution made
on it by Marcy Levy than to Clapton’s work.
I wish Levy had recorded it with someone else.

Agreed. I never got what all the hoopla was. I think Knopfler is much better, as is Jimmy Page, or David Gilmour.
And "Wrecking Crew" guitarist Tommy Tedesco could run rings around any of them.
There's an Australian guitarist named Tommy Emmanuel who's also far better.
Admittedly, for pure soul and expression, Jimmy Page was hard to beat, although Jimi Hendrix was up there too. Unfortunately Jimi beat himself.
