PLANO, TEXAS A Plano high school teacher was arrested last week and accused of having a sexual relationship with one of her students.
The student, a 16-year-old boy, told police he had a relationship with his algebra teacher, Alaina Ferguson, in which they had sex on a park bench in Lewisville, in the back of his pickup after a football game and in her apartment several times, WFAA reported.
The relationship began when the boy wrote his Snapchat username at the top of his algebra test at Plano Senior High School and Ferguson contacted him through the social media app, WFAA reported. She was living with her fiance during at least some of her relationship with the boy, court documents said.
“Ms. Ferguson told [the student] that she knew it was not the right thing to do, but it felt right at the time, and that she was going to break it off with her fiancé because she didn't feel anything with him,” court documents state, according to WFAA.
Ferguson, 23, faces a charge of sexual assault. She was booked into the Collin County Jail on Nov. 30 and posted the $100,000 bond a day later. The Plano school district told WFAA that Ferguson was hired in August and resigned in October.

Yes, kids do take algebra in HS these days. I drive a bus so |I hear the HS kids helping each other with algebra and chemistry on a near daily basis. I have a great bunch.
It’s especially disturbing that this teacher was ENGAGED to be married, and still thought little or nothing about fornicating with a minor.

Yeah, its just common sense.... Hiring females(especially attractive ones) in their early-mid 20’s, to teach teenagers, is just asking for trouble. Easily avoidable problem.
And boy, was I born in the wrong era.. LOL...lucky b*stards... My best bud from childhood and I were just talking about this...We had MAYBE 2-3 somewhat attractive teachers from k-12
There were some back in the 70s. Guess they’d aged when you came along.
A male coach was getting it on with a 6th grader all the way until she graduated. A female teacher had special afterschool games with the high school football team. A few years later, she was employed by a youth organization so she hadn’t seen the error of her ways. The school secretary was overly flirty with the guys but don’t know how far that went.
Not too long ago here, a female teacher got outted by the HS boy because he freaked when she wanted to have his baby. In another, a male teacher was arrested and hounded by the cops on false accusations by a mental female student. Sadly, she only admitted she’d lied after he committed suicide.
It’s been going on since the dawn of time.
I disagree.
My daughter is 24. She teaches high-school. She loves her job and is actually quite good at it.
The difference is in the moral quality of the young women they hire. She would never dream of doing anything like this. a) because it’s morally wrong, and b) because it would destroy a career she loves and worked very hard to enter. She purposely chose secondary education because she realized her personality was not well-suited to dealing with young children.
You can’t really age-discriminate in hiring the way you suggest.
