I’m not sure he wanted a role, I think the ban is his ultimate aim though he never mentioned it. I actually suspect he will get some progress on that.

He’s obviously bitter at Trump, he has a real personality disorder, of that there is no doubt.

But on Taiwan he’s just plain wrong - the Chinese will feel far more threatened by an economic war. With over a billion mouths to feed, and the threat of a trade war with such a crucial trade lapdog, they have far more to lose through that than Taiwan. Savage is big on that confrontation, as is Trump - hence why Savages criticism makes no sense.

I suspect schmoozing with Taiwan has more to do with trade, and on that basis is a shrewd move.
