I haven’t confirmed it, but this popped up on Fox the other day almost as a “throwaway line”.
When he pulled the pin on his active service around 3 years ago (after putting up with 5 years of obozo’s efforts to destroy our military and his beloved Marines), quietly and without fanfare or press releases, General Mattis is reported to have driven across the country, stopping to visit with as many Gold Star families of Marines and sailors who died under his command as he could locate.
If this story IS true, this is not only a great man but a GOOD MAN who will make an exceptional Secretary of Defense. While he is the WARRIOR and MILITARY LEADER we desperately need in this increasingly dangerous world, because he has seen the pain and death of combat, my guess is that he will ONLY AGREE to send our folks into those situations if there is no other way to resolve some threat to America’s ACTUAL VITAL NATIONAL INTERESTS!
