Spoke to my source, a retired military guy. I asked if he could confirm whether General Mattis had visited Gold Star families after retiring. He nodded his head, saying “He’s big on that.” He’s worked under Mattis several times in past decades and tells me when he was injured Mattis was the first to visit him. Spoke very highly of the General and is pleased about his nomination.
