I’m boycotting all of football. Once the NFL allowed players to knell I stopped watching any games.
Then when they wouldn’t allow Dallas to pay tribute to the murdered Dallas police officers that was it.
That was brutal.
What the HELL is that???
Truthfully, I never picked up the interest, since I worked during high school and after Vietnam I considered any physical activity less than combat to be useless and unexciting.
The Kaepernick thing is just the icing on the cake; the whole activity is a waste of time and money to me.
Sick of hours of inane phone, insurance, car, and beer commercials.
Especially the one with the 4 diverse metro-sexual cucks on a train.
Anyone want to bet that the decline in viewers of televised NFL games coincides with the politization of the game by ESPN talking heads and players refusing to stand for the national anthem? The cost of attending live NFL games has skyrocketed as teams build lavish stadiums, largely with taxpayer money, and push ticket prices beyond what all but the very rich or politically connected can afford. The cost of tickets to games in even the nose bleed seats of the taxpayer funded Minnesota Vikings new stadium is unaffordable to most. However, pricy box seats on the 50 yard line are being doled out at bargain prices to local politicians and their cronies.
horribly over officiated.
rule changes to turn the game into arena football.
fantasy leagues generating a “stat machine” mentality.
no pad and strictly limited practices hurting.
tackling seems to be a lost art.
feds faggot agenda able to be pushed because of ridiculous tax concessions owners don’t want to lose.
the f’n commissioner makes $50 mil a year ( a mil a week!)
women referees.
referees get way too much face time on tv.
I’m so over NFL football. I watch a few games but I won’t spend any money on it and I try not to buy anything they advertise.
I was informed by Mrs. Dweller a few weeks after we watched ‘Concussion’ that her interest in pro football, already low, has bottomed out.
Hilarious article. So much ink wasted. Writer plays the role of Inspector Clouseau fumbling, bumbling , when allthewhile the glaringly obvious is everywhere “kneeling” in plain view.
Good post. They should have real students play the game instead of so many that couldn’t get into a college without their athletic ability. From what I recall, they’re supposed to be academic institutions.
For most people sports are a DIVERSION fom their cares and worries. When you start bringing politics into the diversion...it isn’t a diversion anymore...
Just curious: Is CTR an issue in rugby? If not, maybe it’s time to go back to leather helmets.
In any case, football fans need a new league.
CTE, I mean. If sports like rugby and Australian rules football don’t have players frequently experiencing concussion, why?
Not “pro” but...Did you watch the Wisconsin/Penn Srate game last night? A terrific game! But I only watched about 1/3 of it. They put commercials in every tiny game break! I’m not going to turn in a football game and see two hours of the SAME commercials. I put in Netflix and watched a whole movie without commercials. Last night’s game was over the top in commercials. I won’t waste my time in that.
The writer’s dad was feeling that way because his Ducks are playing like they are in a Pop Warner League somewhere. Phil Knight has said he’d pay $10 Million for a coach that would take them to a National Championship. And there’s even talk of bringing Chip Kelly back!
I quit caring in the early 80s at about maybe 12 or 13.
It wasn’t until the early 00’s that I came to despise football and sports in general.
I was a little engineering person in public TV land where there was a jerk technical manager and bigger boss.
Jerk technical manager (JTM) and the chosen made big bucks doing freelance at all the games. JTM loved to lord about it all which bothered most of us unwashed unpopular ones who made things work.
What did it for me was JTM’s brilliant idea of weekend sports productions. Mostly penny ante high school and nowhere college. Of course no extra money or anything.
Schedules played with to make sure no comp time for long weekends. There was one exception who was favorite that was always off but that’s another story.
A number of JTM’s buddies got hired and made easy money for the games so someone benefited.
He got some of the masses to go along with it based on the lie that his great idea would help people get in to make the big bucks like him. I knew it was a lie since it was by invitation only.
I had something going for me that JTM never thought about. A former good boss set me up in the scheduling system and no one ever thought to disable it. I could look months ahead to see when that stupid ball stuff was coming and take vacation and other stuff to avoid it.
The system worked for a number of years. I also fought on a few other fronts and eventually won what I wanted which was a long overdue and lied about promotion. I did exactly one ballgame and finally escaped the plantation of SCETV engineering. The program died apparently not much later.
JTM later moved on to where he can be a full time high priest of phony sports and gatekeeper supreme a short distance away.
Seven BILLION in taxpayer dollars to build stadiums so these a-holes can insult our country.
Yeah, I just about fell out of my chair on that one.
If my wife used Cover Girl, she wouldn't be any more.
