Not only identity thieves. The DIL of a friend used to post
EVERYTHING about their lives on Facebook. Posted photos of
all her latest redecorating projects; also announced every
trip they made out of town & when they expected to return.

Well, they came home after a trip years ago to find that
they had been cleaned out. I would hope she learned her
lesson. - I got “trapped” on Facebook years ago and got
into the “friending” deal. I was afraid to turn down anyone
requesting to “friend” me as most of my female friends from
school had changed names by marriage. One woman ended up
propositioning me (and I am a straight woman!), asked me
to “meet her” out of town for a weekend. I just deleted
ALL my “friends” and scooted. Even if I were “gay”, that
would have been very risky behavior.

Exactly. My dog doesn’t quite have the intellect of a 2 or 3 yr old. But, I love this darn dog more than anything, and she loves me.

Children with Downs, have intellect that peaks out at what, a 5-8 yr old? Heck, my 4 kids, that is when I found them to be the most lovable. We have a downs kid in our neighborhood, assume he’s fairly old now, maybe 20? He is out in his batman costume, or whatever “warrior” related costume he can find. I love seeing him in the front yard having his sword fights etc.

All those that aborted their downs babies never got to have the most cherished thing in their lives. I’m sure of this.

You aren’t kidding.

My parents just got majorly scammed the other week, undoubtedly due to Facebook “connections”.

My God.

Today I began having a “discussion” with liberals, who were afraid of losing their “rights” with this “scary” election.

I asked what rights? Abortion, for one.

It’s really a non-sequitur (not going to happen), but she didn’t want her daughter to have to be stuck with a defective baby, “quality of life” you know, or a baby sired by some rapist.

I can understand the general despair at having these situations, but again, why is it the child’s fault? And what if the baby is fine, but at age 9 develops defects that are either terminal or life-retarding? Do we kill the 9yo for “quality of life”?

Why? They are looking for support and just maybe answers. I have seen many messages about ill babies and children. If people find them awful, hide them. It is that easy. Just recently a little girl with cancer had a page asking for prayers. She died a few weeks ago but people on FB gave the parents a lot of support and prayers. When I see messages like this, I say a prayer. I also think that these children could be our own family. I wish FB had been around before one of my daughters died from complications of Crohn’s Disease in 2004. We could have used the support and prayers. It does not get easier as the years go by. God bless them.

You are wrong. I have been a part of support systems for ill children. Parents need to know that they are not facing the struggles alone.

Amen. I think of the conjoined twin young ladies who are in college now or were the last time I read anything about them. They are well adjusted and people accept them for the wonderful young ladies they are. I am also reminded of the little boy who had Down’s. His mother entered his photo in a modeling contest but was not accepted because of the Down’s. The mom went public and a children's clothing brand picked him up to be in the Christmas catalog. God bless everyone who is thought to be too different to be accepted.

Some people just like to be mean for the sake of being mean.

True. And I think the anonymity of the Internet makes it easier for people to behave in a callous fashion online.

I don’t see anything about that picture that could be done in a light humour way.

Not sure how long that child will live ... just from a worldly perspective, the medical community will learn a lot from treating him. Beyond that, he serves as a stark reminder that ALL lives matter ... even the profoundly disabled. May God bless him and his family.
