They are quite delicious. We catch them in Hawaii. You make a simple trap with a coconut (like a racoon trap) then throw them right on the BBQ or on the beach fire.
From Wiki
The coconut crab is eaten by Southeast Asians and Pacific Islanders and is considered a delicacy and an aphrodisiac, and intensive hunting has threatened the species’ survival in some areas.

The coconut crab can take a coconut from the ground and cut it to a husk nut, take it with its claw, climb up a tree 10 m (33 ft) high and drop the husk nut, to access the coconut meat inside.[42] They often descend from the trees by falling, and can survive a fall of at least 4.5 metres (15 ft) unhurt.[43] Coconut crabs cut holes into coconuts with their strong claws and eat the contents, although it can take several days before the coconut is opened.[38]

“I worked with a man who picked up a case of crabs from a skank in an Oklahoma bar.”
Always avoid seafood away from the coasts.
Yes!
“In Mercia? The Coconut’s tropical!”
Soon, I hope! Your post made me sooo hungry for crab cakes! :-)
I heard you douse your parts with rum and pour sand in. Crabs get drunk and throw rocks at each other until they are all dead.
Are they like Florida Stone Crabs. I understand that the guys who hunt Stone Crabs for a living, when they catch them, tear off one claw and throw the crab back into the water. The crab then grows another claw for the one harvested.
Sorry, I only know a little about blue crabs and lobstahs. :)
Blue crabs and lobstahs are mahvelous.
Ayah. Wicked good.
OMG! He’s attacking a helpless aquatic juvenile! Oh, won’t somebody please think of the children?!
