She does not want to count the votes

Jill does not want a recount, she wants to nullify the votes. She can do this with a slow recount that goes beyond the certification date 12/13. If a state does not certify to Congress by that date the votes do not count and Hillary wins. She can slow the count by challenges which will get them beyond the certify date. Remember Michigan just reported their final vote a week ago, almost three weeks after the election.

I hope Trump now see’s how truly evil Hillary really is. She could stop this nonsense right away, but she only wants to undermine him and throw the country into chaos. Once Trump is in office, for the good of the country and his own administration, he needs to launch a full scale investigation of the Clintons and prosecute her to the full extent of the law. No mercy.

No - you are wrong.

If you read the law, it requires a majority of electors. Assuming that all 538 electors vote, then 270 is required to achieve a majority.

If, for example, only 499 electors voted, then 250 would be the amount required to achieve a majority.

It’s money laundering for Stein, but for the Clintons it’s about delegitimizing Trump’s victory. This is a two level scheme. They are scratching each other’s backs.

If so, I stand corrected; again, I remember this was an issue in 2000 (where Gore would have won the electoral vote if FL didn’t cast theirs for Bush II). Florida’s failure to certify would not have made Gore president.

The constitution says nothing anywhere about 270 EVs. It only says the winner is whoever has the majority of votes from the appointed electors.

Thank you. Between the click-bait sites promoting this recount crap, the provocateurs, and the pantywaist hand-wringers, these hysterical recount stories get tiring.

The media runs these stories because they are provocative, not because they want to inform the public.

Now that Hillary has joined the recount effort, when does Jill announce she has just purchased a $600,000 vacation home?

Historically speaking, why is it that every time Democrats demand a recount “missing votes” suddenly show up? Seems like the initial election process is simply to determine how many additional votes are needed, not to count the actual votes. I think voters should be certified prior to an election and that states should be required to maintain accurate voter rolls. Further, I would never accept popular vote as a means of electing a president. To do so would open the door for more illegal votes and our nation would be governed by the 20-25 largest cities seeking to spread their fiscal malfeasance, crime and corruption.

Try a Civics 201 course.

The 270 “magical” number only happens if all 538 electoral votes are cast. It is always a majority of the votes cast that determine the winner. They have always voted, so the majority number has been 270 (at least since 1960), but if any did not vote, the required majority would be reduced.

This is from the federal government website:

What happens if no presidential candidate gets 270 Electoral votes?

If no candidate receives a majority of Electoral votes, the House of Representatives elects the President from the 3 Presidential candidates who received the most Electoral votes. Each state delegation has one vote. The Senate would elect the Vice President from the 2 Vice Presidential candidates with the most Electoral votes. Each Senator would cast one vote for Vice President. If the House of Representatives fails to elect a President by Inauguration Day, the Vice-President Elect serves as acting President until the deadlock is resolved in the House.

allowing a candidate who only received 30,130 votes to negate the votes of trump/clinton combined 2,700,822 isn’t very democratic, is it?

************

Stein has no chance of winning anything. Zero.

This is the totally absurd case of one person being allowed to nullify the votes of millions. Yes it’s undemocratic but its also viciously evil and injurious.

I have no legal background, but it seems to me that any voter in the three states would have standing in court to challenge the recount if their vote is negated.

The US Constitution prevails. The Constitution says nothing about 270 votes. The Constitution says a “majority”. If Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan do not appoint electors, then the majority is no longer 270. It becomes 247. Trump still wins.

This is nothing but a stunt designed to draw publicity to the Green Party.

I’ve been saying the same. They will find anomalies. The media will turn this into a circus. They need to cast doubt on the entire electoral system. They believe, based on the popular vote totals, the majority of Americans will agree the electoral college needs to be thrown out.

This isn’t as much about Trump as it is a threat to our constitutional republic.

I think Trump should give an address to the American people to inform them who and what is driving this nefarious scheme. The main theme of the address should be the dangers of disenfranchising the voter. He can do this in a factual way that gets past the media filter.

The beauty of this election is that Trump has a near insurmountable lead for Soros’s shenanigans.

At that point, threaten, intimidate, and blackmail fifteen electors. Or bribe them.

Piece of pie for the Clintons. Easy as cake.

When the timing is right - won’t be sure this is the ploy until they (Stein/Soros/Hillary folks) do what they can to insure the States don’t finish the recounts in time - that will be the “There’s your sign” moment.

You are exactly right! This recount is just part of their long game to eliminate the EC.

Because MI, WI and PA will be null and void, giving Hillary more EVs than Trump, I’m presuming, without actually doing the math.

You are so right. The media is salivating at the prospect of turning this into a circus. They share the liberal dream of eliminating the EC.
