Rather nasty round. An acquaintance of mine, huge collector, brought some Egyptian Hakim? rifle to the range a while back. The Germans used it a lot in WWII. That Mauser round can kick good, can only imagine the damage it did to our GI’s
It kicks a bit and you feel it when you shoot an old Mauser with the metal butt plate but it’s like any other big bore, just ride it rather than fight it and it’s certainly shootable. I’m sure it’s a hard hitter as is the 7MM Mauser (7x57) which might be a better round as it’s flatter shooting. Still, I understand its ballistics are pretty close to the 30-06.
