Several communities across the country have enacted breed bans on pit bulls, but now a police department in New York is taking a closer look at the breed.
In fact, the Poughkeepsie Police Department is hoping that one pit bull will change a negative stigma on the breed.
Unlike what I had heard in the past about the dogs, she is social. Shes smart. Shes agile and she was fairly easy to train, said Deputy George Carlson, a K9 trainer for Ulster County Sheriffs Department.
According to CBS 2, Kiah was found at a Texas animal shelter after her owner was arrested for animal cruelty.
She has been trained and may become the first pit bull police dog in Poughkeepsie.
Experts say she will be used to sniff out drugs and find missing people.
And.......
I’ve never picked my feet in Poughkeepsie.
Didn’t know that Lawrence O’Donnell was a pitbull. Well, for once he would have an honest job.
Odd. By this time we usually have a few fierce posters urging that these dogs be hunted down and boar-speared.
Not once have I seen FR posts advocating boar spearing pitt bulls. Every time an OP details how one of these dogs evicerated some kid or ripped of faces or limbs of adults, the pro pitt bull lobby shows up and insists tthat such gorey violence just proves that the dog had been abused. So I find it puzzling that people choose abused pitts for retraining as pets or service dogs. You would think an animal trainer would know better then to try to misdirect the public by urging them to extend their brief controlled experience with one of these dogs to all pitt bulls, which are responsible for more deaths in the US than all other types of dogs combined.
A pitbull turned me into a newt once......
..... I got better.
Good news!
Yours is the weakest excuse for the documented deaths caused by pit bulls. Weak. Weaker. Weakest excuse.
