As a musician and sound engineer who happens to know a few industry people , it’s very common knowledge Lennons songs during his solo periods are substandard crap masked by heavy echoes and reverbs. Instant Karma is prime example of really bad amateurish playing covered up with heavy reverb to cover the aweful drumming and hideous guitar playing. His solo albums are atrocious and only known because of his connection to the Beatles. McCartney outclassed Lennon in every regard as a musician. George Martin did miracles covering up his amateur playing. The anthology shows jos original ideas being nothing special and others carried him.
