Well stated.
Were I Trump, I might be inclined do something against tradition just for the heck of it, and just because I don’t particularly like Roberts, but then, upon cooler consideration along the lines relictele has outlined, I would cool down and do the appropriate thing — choose a different battle.
Calvin Coolidge took the oath from his dad, a judge, in his vacation cabin. At least two presidents did not use a Bible, but a book of law.
I have never heard masons love the Koran. Where did you hear that?
Likewise, sister Mary-Ann Trump Barry could swear him in at Trump Tower-theoretically, of course.
But since her territory is the U.S. 3rd District, she could not officiate the ceremony if held at Mar-a-Lago.
What words exactly were screwed up, or are you just buying whatever media spin was put on it at the time?
Winning now means antagonizing? Roberts should be impeached.
Is Obama forced to sit through Trump’s speech? I can easily see him finding an excuse to bolt, as he’d have to sit and listen to Trump talk about how he’s going to dismantle Obama’s legacy.
When Trump swears the oath he should place his hand on the biggest, boldest Bible he can find.
[Is Obama forced to sit through Trumps speech?]
I hope he doesn’t sit through it because it would cement, in history, his legacy to be, officially, worse than Carters’.
[...place his hand on the biggest, boldest Bible he can find.]
If the Trumps have a Family Bible, passed down to every generation, it would be perfect to use.
