VANITY: Could Any Other Republican Have Beaten Hillary?
Self | November 12, 2016 | PJ-Comix

Okay the election is over and all is well but now I have to ask the question: Could any other Republican besides Donald Trump have beaten Hillary in the election?

Personally I don't think so. Jake Novak of CNBC wrote that Trump was essentially a third party candidate who was endorsed by the Republicans. Many Democrat voters in the Rust Belt which was key to victory voted not for a Republican but for Trump who himself repudiated by many/most of the Republican establishment.

When I look back at the other Republican candidates, I see no one who would have been capable of beating Hillary. Jeb Bush? Puh-lease. He would have spent a lot of his general election campaign apologizing plus he was a complete throwback to the past.

Ted Cruz. Okay I initially liked Cruz but I have come to see faults in him as a candidate. For one thing he had sort of a preachy tone which doesn't translate well to the campaign trail.

Chris Christie? Good on the campaign trail but Bridgegate would have doomed him.

John Kasich? A disgusting human being as we found out.

Marco Rubio? It would have been like a boy campaigning.

All I can say is we are extremely lucky that Donald Trump came on the scene. Only he was able to save us from a Hillary Regime which would have brought a liberal Supreme Court, eroded the Second Amendment, brought hordes of illegals and terrorist "refugees" across America, and, I believe, the basic end of our civilization.

Instead we dodged that horrible Hillary Bullet and the Democrats are now in total disarray. America has been saved and we have one man to thank for that...Donald Trump.

Julian Assange said that the establishment would never let Trump win. And they never would have... except that the Democrats started believing their own slanted polls. They cheated, but they didn't cheat enough. Just a couple hundred thousand more illegal votes in Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan and Pennsylvania would have thrown the election to Hillary. But the Democrats thought these states in the bag, so they did only the normal amount of cheating.

There is no doubt in my mind that there were several million fraudulent votes in this election just from illegal aliens. Just a week before the election Obama assured them that there would be no consequences. But a million or two illegal alien votes in California didn't have any effect on the electoral college. And in many of the other states won by Trump he had so many voters that it would have been difficult for them to cheat enough. Personally, I believe that he had to win by at least 5% more of the legitimate vote to win the election.

My hope is that with the both houses of congress and a Supreme Court with a conservative majority that major reform of our election process will be able to make election fraud a thing of the past. The media is most likely a lost cause. And most of the major social media sites are controlled by liberal silicon valley types. But if conservatives just have a fair process I think it has now been shown we can compete despite the cheating.

Yes, and he won those Democrats, by winning the working class particularly in the rust belt! He Was the only R who was going to win this cycle because he was the ONLY one who was free to tell the “free trade” globalists go Eff yourselves....

Not one of the other 16 or 17 or whatever it was could or would have done it... they were all taking money from people who WANTED MORE GLOBALISM NOT LESS!

Trump was the ONLY candidate who could have won 2016... and he laid the gauntlet down from day one on how he planned to do it! The elites were just too damned arrogant to believe it was possible... Sure Trump might get OH an IA.. but that was it.. even if he pulled of FL and held NC... he had no path the victory...

Their small arrogant minds were completely out of touch with the pain and suffering that globalism had wrought on this region, and they were blind to the furhter pain and anger those harmed by those policies had watching the cumulative effects of liberal policies further blight their communities without anyone giving a damn about it.. D or R.

Trump, made a bold play, a play not one of the other R’s likely would have seen, and none would have had the ability, let alone the gonads to try. Their backers would have never let them toss globalism aside, they want more of it, not less.

True.  Trump, a non-politician, pulled off the most brilliant political upset of a generation!

And as good as Trump performed, Florida and Michigan and Pennsylvania were still awful close.  Such was the entrenched power of the Clinton News Network, the Uniparty establishment, the illegal alien stealth vote, and Santa Claus.  Heck, even the whacky Pope was taking potshots at him.

Trump's combined political genius, campaign leadership, street smarts, and communications skills are One-in-a-Billion.

We are so lucky...

I vote no, don’t see how any of them would have won PA, MI and WI. The campaign would have been more like 2012 and Hillary would have cruised to an easy win.

The thought crossed my mind that Gary Johnson might have been president if it was Clinton vs Jeb Bush, that might have been too much to take for everybody.

As a non-Trump supporter during the primaries, my answer is “no”.

Only Cruz would not have withered under the abuse and one-sided reporting hurled by the media. But Cruz would not have been able to draw in the working-class Dems as ably as Trump was.

I’ve concluded that Trump was uniquely God’s candidate. So many things happened that defy common sense except that God chose Donald Trump and manipulated events to get His man into the White House.

I was giving one example. He was not going to be able to sell himself to the party base because he was not a Conservative. He was also asking way too much of GOP voters that he would suddenly support an agenda and appoint individuals as President in complete opposition to his ideology as Mayor. If he had taken the stance, “Hey, I had to be a left-winger in order to be elected NYC Mayor !” one could rightly question, “So you’re pretending to be a Conservative now in order to get the nomination ?” Who was the real Rudy ? Because this is the textbook definition of political opportunism that we have grown so sick and tired of.

Oh give it a break!

Teddy "LOST IT" and did so BIG TIME, when Trump posted a fully clothed picture of his wife and made one statement about a picture of his insane father. You actually believe that he could have taken worse ( and far worse WOULD have come out ) had he been the nominee? ROTFLMSOPIMP

Exactly right: quick, tell me what Marco Rubio stands for? What does Jeb Bush stand for? Ted Cruz actually does stand for things, but he’s not retail.

GOP Inc is non competitive, and they have no idea.

For one, no other Republican would have called the Democrats on vote fraud and put them on notice that it would be dealt with if it skewed the election.
