The one sin Jesus told us is unforgivable is denying the power and authority of God as Satan did. So we don’t know in either case.
Good point. I believe Pilate knew who he was dealing with and tried to let him off several times but became ensnared with the Sanhedrin pushing for guilt. Even down to the choice between freeing Barabas or Jesus....surely he thought the people would choose Jesus.
