Did Judas and Pontius Pilate End up in Hell?
Mind Of Corporate Stepsister | Corporate Stepsister

I'm interested in debating if whether or not Judas and Pontius Pilate ended up in Hell. Despite being considered the most evil men in hisotry, since they were doing God's will in causing Christ to be crucified, surely they would in fact be looked on with favor by God and not condemned to Hell for eternity.

Is Hitler necessarily in Hell?

You need to let the question stand alone.

What must a man do to be saved?

Did either ?

Judas in inferno, for sure (according to Dante). Pilate may have gotten away with Purgatory, but I’ll have to look it up for confirmation.

If he was insane was he responsible for his actions is another question.

Theologically, we can only say the one would go to hell if he died unrepentant, and only God knows his final state of mind.

Even one who commits suicide might have a split second of remorse.

It is a mystery that God can be infinitely just and merciful at the same time.

So that point is moot; you’ll argue forever.

Ask yourself who they thought Jesus Christ was.

If it isnt “My God and personal savior”, did they wind up trusting God and receiving His Good News?

Judas, yes; Jesus himself said that it would be better if that one had never been born.

Pilate? Maybe, maybe not.

In the Orthodox Church Pilate and his wife are saints.

I believe if Judas was insane, Gods Word would have pointed that out clearly. God is not the author of confusion.

For what it’s worth:

Some early Christian traditions say Pilate repented, converted to Christianity, and was martyred. Hence, he’s considered a saint.

Scripture is silent on this. But who knows? It would be wonderful if it were true, attesting to our Lord’s amazing grace!

Nobody knows. Personally, I hope everyone gets a chance to ask forgiveness and avoid hell, even right after death. Even some of my in-laws. ;)

Reminds me of a joke. A guy decides to kill himself by jumping off a 12 story building. As he passes the tenth floor someone asks through the window how he’s doing. “So far, so good!”

I only know a very small snippet of their lives from the Bible. It is not my place or anyone else’s to judge others eternal destinies. The temptation is there of course but that is the work of the Lord.

He’s also a saint in the Coptic Church; apparently he repented in time.

Time as we experience it is an attribute of this created nature we inhabit. Hell is outside this created nature. So I am not sure if it makes sense to talk about somebody being in hell already. My suspicion is that those who are condemned to hell do not experience Temporal duration as we understand it, but are rather stopped from becoming more evil in an eternal static state...but this is guess work.
