The one thing that one could feel compassion about is that though she came from wealth, it sounds like she was abused in some way.

I’ve known several millionaires that ended up penniless. Alcohol, drugs, or mental illness were usually the cause.
A cautionary tale and we might all fall far further than we can ever think. So, I’m not without compassion. But, I must say I feel that article elides the true level of substance abuse, or possibly mental illness, that must be a factor in this woman’s (and her husband’s) life.
I found him homeless and fed him and let him sleep in my basement with the door locked. But he was too down and out to save so I kicked him out...
Actually, we bust each other’s chops on FR. We’re pals.

ROFL! Nick might be a sociopath and have many mental health issues, but he is Very witty and fast off the draw :)
It is amazing that people will just not leave such an incredibly high cost of living area when they have money issues.
When her parents apt sold and she had 1.5 mil, she could have left for somewhere in the midwest and survived so well. She had no family to keep her there.
Geez.
I won’t judge her, but a heroine addiction goes a long way to completely screwing up your life. That will put you on the street fast.
Addiction is a trap many fall into.
She seems to have suffered living with dysfunctional people. However, the fact that her mother and sister sided with the x hubby regarding custody of the child says a lot.
