AMAZING! Former Democrat pollster Pat Caddell says this year's election could be like 1980 - a 40 state Trump landslide!
He broke the news to Carter that he was going to lose big. But up until the last week he had no clue
Trump wins 370-450 ev’s.
In just over a week President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect Pence will be the talk of the planet!!!
He might be onto something:
According to a 1987 profile in the Washington Monthly:
“Caddell believes the key to winning contemporary elections is appealing to ‘alienated’ voters—that ever-growing group of mostly younger voters who are not easily identified as liberal or conservative and don’t trust government, politicians, or the parties. You can’t lure these voters with programs and stands on specific issues, so the theory goes. Rather, you must remain as uncommitted as they are. You lure them by attacking that which caused their alienation: the Establishment. Even if he were inclined to help his candidate address the nation’s substantive problems and articulate a coherent package of solutions, he’d have trouble.”
That was on his Wikipedia page from an interview in the Washington Monthly in 1987. He’s describing the exactly movement Trump is running in front of right now.
Unsurprisingly, Washington Monthly is now trashing him for calling it 30 years ago.....

I heard shortly after the ‘80 election that Carter knew 2-3 days beforehand that the tide had turned and that he was going to lose. He would have gotten that from Cadell.
On the evening before election day, Jimmy & Roslynn were campaigning on the left coast. As they boarded AF-1 for the flight back to Georgia to vote, their people told them it was over, that Reagan would win. Was Caddell present? I don’t know.

Caddell was in the White House, but he’s the one who broke the news, first to Jody Powell , then to Jimmy, as they flew on AF1 the night before the election. Until he got the call, Jimmy thought he would win.
All the people I have talked to in Southern Calfornia are voting for Trump. No person has told me that he will vote for Clinton. I wish CA got rid of the stupid “winner takes all” electoral votes rule, since 55 is a lot and should not be determined by lazy city slickers alone.
I think the Iran hostage debacle plaid a role in that, but indeed, when it is about Brexit and non establishment, stuff gets weird in the media
