I dislike everything about the Early Voting concept. It just seems tailor-made for abuse.

Agreed! I never understood the mentality they're espousing. You mean to tell me that people are too damn lazy to go to a central point in your local area to cast a ballot once every 2 years. Seriously, is that so difficult? It's the same time every single time. There's no case to be made for this being difficult.

Besides, I've not yet worked for a company that did not give us leeway with late arrival/early leave to vote. It should be considered everyone's duty to show up to a poll every 2 years to cast a ballot. I'll never understand the sloth we espouse.

I agree fully with your post. Ultimately, we’ll have to revert back to paper ballots, all cast on the same day except in the rarest of hardship cases, use indelible ink as proof of voting instead of a cheesy “I voted sticker”, and count the ballots by hand. Election Day ought to be a national holiday to ensure all eligible voters can get to the polls. Any extra step between directly placing a ballot in a ballot box, and then opening that box to count them, leaves room for fraud, and there will always be those who want to take advantage of that ‘extra step’.
