ADVOCATE STAFF REPORT
October 25, 2016

LSU running back Leonard Fournette (7) points to the sky as he runs in a 78-yard touchdown in the third quarter against Mississippi, Saturday, October 22, 2016, at LSU in Baton Rouge, La."

After his record-setting performance against Ole Miss Saturday night, LSU running back Leonard Fournette has turned his attention to Alabama.

In an interview on "SEC Now" Monday, Fournette previewed the much-anticipated matchup between the Tigers (5-2, 3-1) and the Crimson Tide (8-0, 5-0) on Nov. 5.

“It’s going to be hectic, especially because they’re undefeated,” Fournette told host Peter Burns. “I just know it’s going to be one of the best games we’re going to play as a whole. I want to make sure that as a leader on the team, I’m just preparing everybody each and every day.”

Fournette had 31 yds on 19 att last year.

We’ll see if he can improve on those numbers.

The lowly Bullies of Starkvegas will probably give Bama 21 points by defense alone. As Dan Mullen collects a four million dollar a year check for a team that can’t even beat the Wildcats. Mullen had a couple of good years with a guy now playing on Sunday and hasn’t recruited even a good waterboy since.

Kiffen has him on a short leash. That’s why OJ is the go to guy right now. Hurts is a freshman and I think they’re trying to build confidence in the young leader. Later Ridley will start seeing more down field action (if he can catch the dang ball). But as a Bama fan, the running QB is music to my ears. This kid is gonna be a legend.

Eventually, Hurts will need to win a game with his arm.

Agreed, but the whole team has yet to play four solid quarters. That’s what worries me. So far, so good though.

If Auburn wins out, they would win the West.

Actually, it would depend on what A&M does, since they beat Auburn.

Ms State got rid of the State flag and should be winning all of their games because that was keeping them from recruiting all the best athletes. Isn't that why Corinth's Keenum made that decision?

No. Not a fact. It’s a prediction.

A big problem in our country is that so many people don't know the difference between facts, opinions, beliefs, predictions, etc.

Some feller on TV this morning was sayin’ the only team with a shot at beating Alabama is Washington, given the makeup of the Washington team.

I’m enjoying watching Navy play and climb up the rankings. The triple option, as the predominate offense for only about four NCAA teams, is terrific clock control and turnover resistant.

Washington is scary good. I know Oregon is down this year, but Washington went to Eugene and hung 70 on them.

Buckeye fan here. Some thoughts on CFB at the moment.

- Agree that the Huskies are looking real good. Tough tests coming up
- Bama’s Defense looks like it can slow option-read/spread type offenses. Sometimes this leaves you susceptible to smash mouth running teams, does their Front 7 have many new players? Last year they schemed LSU, but they weren’t unique in that regard
- OSU is awfully young, but if they regroup I think OSU-Michigan winner is in. OSU will be far more battle-tested by then.
- ACC, this weekend could be a major bump for Clemson. I think Louisville’s path is for FSU to win, and Clemson to lose the Title game. Houston game not as big as it was looking.
- SEC has 5 teams alive? Only one will come out
- Big12 I don’t think WVU and Baylor go undefeated. First one will beat the other, second Oklahoma is looming, and 3rd both have other games that will be tough.

You have identified the problem with Alabama. The team is inconsistent and was last year, too. The poor play by the defense, especially at the end, of the Clemson game nearly lost the game. Fortunately, the special teams and offense played well. This year it seems that most of the time the team is satisfied to play well enough to win, but not up to its potential. Alabama’s talent, except at QB, is so overwhelming that Alabama can be inconsistent and win. But, LSU has talent and depth, too, which makes it a very dangerous opponent. Alabama has to be favored, but LSU has a significant shot at winning.

I love bulletin board material:)

Seriously, as much as I hate to admit it, LSU will give us all we can handle. Orgeron has given new life to that team. Also, make no mistake, his chances of getting the permanent head coaching job rests on this game. He will coach the game of his life and his players will give their all for him. I will have my Xanax on hand for that one.

That being said, I believe that if we play up to our standard and don’t make dumb mistakes, no one can beat us. The loss of Eddie Jackson is a blow but I have faith that Tony Brown can step up and do well.

I have never been so excited about a Freshman as I am about Jalen Hurts. His maturity and calm under pressure is incredible for someone so young.

Hurts will be one of the greatest QB’s in Bama history, despite what some rivals on this thread are saying. Naturally, as a Freshman, he has some kinks to work out, namely his long passing, but I wouldn’t trade him for any other QB in the SEC. He is special and very exciting to watch.

ROLL TIDE!!!
