Election Unworthy of America (Nat Review soiling panties alert)
National Review ^ | Jim Geraghty

Given two terrible choices, a depressing number of voters have responded in the worst way.

Yes, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are terrible presidential candidates, but not all of the blame for this thoroughly depressing election year can be placed at their feet. The primaries gave the general electorate two bad, disliked, dishonest, vindictive options . . . and in far too many cases, the general electorate responded appallingly, making a crummy situation worse.

Donald Trump: 'Putin has eaten Obama's lunch' on Ukraine

Mar 13, 2014
Eun Kyung Kim: TODAY

Donald Trump slammed President Obama Thursday on TODAY for failing to take a stronger line against President Vladimir Putin in dealing with Ukraine, saying he feared Obama would now make up for lost time with imprudent moves to "show his manhood."

The real estate mogul and reality-TV star, who has criticized Putin for sending military troops into Crimea, said Obama must now take fierce steps to prevent the situation from escalating further.

"We should definitely do sanctions and we have to show some strengths. I mean, Putin has eaten Obama's lunch, therefore our lunch, for a long period of time," Trump said. ..."

March 2012...

"Obama was talking with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev when neither of them realized that their conversation was being picked up by microphones. Here is what they said:

Obama: "On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved, but it's important for him to give me space."

Medvedev: "Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for you ..."

Obama: "This is my last election. After my election, I have more flexibility."

Medvedev: "I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir."

"This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility." That statement tells us much about the president's mindset.

The specific mention of missile defense is worrisome enough. Mr. Obama has retreated from the missile defense plan that was negotiated with European allies during the George W. Bush administration.

Apparently, he is signaling Moscow that he intends to retreat further. The clear implication from the president's comments is that he cannot tell the American people before the election what he plans to do after the election.

In addition, there is the phrase "on all these issues," implying more is at stake than just missile defense."

Article: Obama plans double cross on missile defense
When it comes to keeping America safe, we shouldn't be too flexible:

So glad NRO is staying the course so we can’t forget who they are and what treachery they have committed.

The National Review doing its part to suppress voter turnout. Do you think Obama has told them all if Trump wins he will start a nuclear war?

Disclaimer: I have subscribed to National Review for most of my adult life...roughly 40 years. I still do. It's still one of the best commentary efforts going regarding most issues.

Why can no commentary among conservatives ever put the blame for this election where it belongs? Those responsible are Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, John Boehner and that ilk.

I was a Cruz supporter. I hope he is reelected to the Senate. Nevertheless, I want Trump to win the big show.

Is he flawed? Of course he is. That's a hazard in getting your recruits from the human race. Do we need him despite his flaws? Where do we begin?

There is so much corruption in DC, we may not be able to fix it short of vaporizing many square miles while all the politicians are there. Do we need to fix it?

The short of it is, clinton is so utterly corrupt that putting her in charge of the corrupt FBI, the corrupt IRS, the corrupt... (let the litany continue)... would not be simply wrong.

If clinton wins, we no longer have a country.

We’ve always said we had to seize control of GOP away from the GOPe who have stolen it from us. So finally we’ve done that. And they are mad as hornets, and prepared to sink their own party rather than lose it to the membership.

Trump people are the GOP rank and file. They will not forgive this. If Trump wins, the party gets new life, albeit under new management, that is, its members. If he loses, I can’t see any Trump guy voting for anyone with an R next to his name again, not ever. But if that happens the country will be in such serious straits that the fate of the party will be small potatoes compared to the bigger picture.

Add Rush Limbaugh to the wishy-washy crowd.

Add Mike Gallagher to the positive for Trump group.

Thanks piss-ant (I tried to type “piss-ant” as one word, but
it changed your name to “puissant” or something like that.
I thought that looked too much like something BILL CLINTON
would say, so I retyped it as “piss-ant”.) :O)

DONALD J. TRUMP has EARNED this damned Republican
nomination FAIR & SQUARE!! Ted Cruz’s petulant behavior
when TRUMP allowed him to speak at the Republican
Convention (& then doubled down on it the next day) just
highlighted that the voters made the RIGHT CHOICE!

FANG & I voted Cruz in the primary. NO MORE!! We both are
walking barefoot over rough gravel, over the woods and
thru the woods on election day to VOTE TRUMP/PENCE!!

I still like Rush. He’s human & some few things I’ve not
agreed with him about; but we started listening to him
from the very first. (He’s surely bound to retire one day
fairly soon as he is that age.)

What gave us these two candidates? For the Democrats Hillary won because of internal fixes and dirty tricks. Only crazy Bernie was willing to take the heat and oppose the Clinton machine. Despite the rigged outcome Bernie was able to galvanize a good number of Democrat voters and was animated compared to Hillary's wooden talking points. That Bernie did so well is testimony about what a poor candidate Hilary is.

For the Republicans the leadership put up their RINO choice of Jeb Bush who was thought to blow away the competition. Cruz however took the anti establishment conservative vote and Trump came from nowhere. Trump took off because he said what many in the rank and file GOP thought and felt, but could never voice. Trump was not a politician and said what he thought without nuance. His rough gritty comments raised eyebrows, but much of what he said resonated with the voters who were sick of RINO looser candidates and the collusion in Washington. Trump may not be the ideal candidate, but he represents the antiestablishment candidate the people wanted.
