When she grows up, Lynlee Boemer should demand to celebrate two birthdays a year.
For she is the baby who was born twice. Her proper entry into the world came 12 weeks after she was temporarily taken out of her mothers womb for a life-saving operation.
Doctors discovered a tumour in the tailbone of Margaret Boemers unborn baby when the mother-to-be went for a routine ultrasound just 16 weeks into her pregnancy.
Her only hope was a medical procedure that required surgeons to open up the womb and take the 1 lb, 3 oz foetus out for 20 minutes for a do-or-die operation - and then put her back and sew up the uterus.

Okay, this is for the jerks who came out and told me there is never a good reason a pregnant woman should have an ultrasound.
I told them these kind of operations have taken place because of problems they saw on the ultrsounds. They told e this stuff just does not happen.
I am vindicated. Again. Because I alreay knew they do this to babies to fix theirspinal cords/backs to develop properly, and to do heart operations to put the heart inside the chest.
Amazing :) I did not know they did this.
To think of all the healthy babies aborted, while other mom’s and dad’s go through these huge decisions (and procedures) to keep their baby alive and hope for a healthier life for them.
Beautiful little girl.
It is interesting that Planned Parenthood and its Legion of demoniacs boast that PP provides mammograms (when it doesn’t) but they never mention ultrasounds or sonograms.
You're the very same Secret Agent Man who told me to cut back on my haiku-ing.
Your vindication is a constant, continual event, like a river.
But yeah: my last baby was a high risk pregnancy, and we had to get an ultrasound every 2 weeks. It was expensive.
The people who were on me were saying there was no good medical reason for ultrasoumd and that they were only done with the intent to convince moms to abort a baby because of problems.
I already knew that was not true and they did not care. They scoffed that these types of good things actually happened.
In your case, did the ultrasounds benefit you during the high risk pregnancy? Like help tailor the advice and treatment the doctor advised about? Help make better decisions?
The ultrasounds served mostly to placate us and decrease our anxiety over things we had absolutely no control over, like the cord wrapping around the babies’ neck.
At the very end it actually DID wrap around the baby’s head. Baby was c-sectioned (planned) and it had the cord around the forehead. I got photos!
I think it was simply the policy of the doctor, who was a high risk pregnancy doctor.
To your point though, folks who told you ultrasound has no value are most likely assclowns, and ignorant.
I have a happy/healthy 4 month old baby, and that’s all that is important!
Excellent. :)
