ROFL!
That would be funny ‘just desserts’.
But what if she was creating a diversion to keep them from seeing someone else?

[The officer and car was ‘plain clothes’.]
Assuming he was white she might have just wanted to get ‘some random white guy’ in trouble while he was making a left turn — cause a collision or general mayhem.
Instead, she had the entire NYPD after her.

“But I suspect I’d vote “not guilty” on an attempted *murder* charge.”
I disagree.
I used to do varmint control (gophers) with a .17 pellet air rifle. The pellet would pass right through their bodies, which would be about 1.5” wide.
My point is, if a pellet can pass through 1.5”+ soft tissue, then it could nail a major artery and the person could bleed out. Not to mention getting vital organs.
As a kid I had a common BB gun that shot those little round steel balls. That particular Daisy air rifle did not have enough giddy-up-go to break the skin on a gopher.

’ ... a Missouri license ... ‘
Out-of-stater. Ferguson related?
An attempt to cause mayhem on the street.
Under different circumstances leftists would call this terrorism.

Right. It depends on the air pressure. Varies greatly.

Crossing state lines ... FBI. Reckless endangerment. Was it a crowded street?
Terrorism.

Plus being shot in the face, the pellet could have blinded the officer, besides major veins/arteries being close to the surface at the neck. I would expect the prosecutor to show demos of penetration in ballistic gel.

Anytime you shoot someone in the head with a weapon like that it is attempted murder.
I killed a coyote in my backyard with my pellet gun (1000 fps w/.177 cal @ ~30 ft. or so). Took him a while to die, but he did.

I have a pellet air rifle, top break, single shot
It shoots a conical round, and it breaks the sound barrier as it leaves the barrel.
the round goes all the way through a fence picket, easily. It has way, way more energy than a bb gun.
It can easily kill a person.

Close range and to the face...a pellet gun could do a lot of damage.

15.4 grain .22 lead balls are even better. No problem taking out rabbits and bushytail rats.

Pellet gun? Attempted murder? No,sounds like they're overcharging her.
I agree. I don't doubt a pellet gun CAN kill, I think it would be very hard to prove that she intended to kill when using the pellet gun.
The attempted murder charge is the best way for the prosecutors to get a guilty plea without going to trial. They'll get her to plead to assault on a police officer and reckless endangerment in exchange for dropping attempted murder and loaded firearm charges. Prosecution gets their win, no trial necessary. Just my guess though.

She may have had a pellet rifle.
My pellet rifle fires pellets at 1,500 feet per second.

I suspect that you're probably correct.Actually taking a case to trial makes it very difficult for highly paid employees of the City of New York to have their 3 martini lunches at Tavern on the Green.

Any doubts as to how she votes?
