ALCS (TBS): Cleveland over Toronto NLCS (Fox/FS1): Cubbies over Dodgers
World Series (Fox): Cubbies over Cleveland
Well if ESPN snubs the White Sox I don’t see how that’s the Cubbies’ fault.
I’m not not gonna pick the Cubs. My picks were all right except of course I picked against the Indians twice!
I hope for a win in 5 so it can happen at Wrigley but I’m thinking 6 or 7.
The tribe doesn’t have the SP they had all year, Cubs have the edge there. Tribe has Miller in the pen, the Cubs don’t want to be trailing late in games. Tribe has mojo, not the opponent I would have picked.
Francona 8-0 in the WS. Lester going tonight for the Cubs looking to make that 8-1. Game 1 winners, have won them all since 2003 other than 2009.
OK, had to read that double negative a couple of times. You're picking the Cubs. At first I thought, he's making a case for the Cubs to win, why is he not picking them?
First Game:
The Cub's Lester's regular season ERA was 2.44.
The Tribe's Kluber's regular season ERA was 3.14.
Starting pitchers favor the Cubs.
Overall:
The Cub's Aroldis Chapman's regular season ERA was 2.44.
The Tribe's Cody Allen's regular season ERA was 2.51.
Closers favor the Cubs.
Joe Maddon's record with the Cubs is 200-123 = 39%
Francona's's record with the Tribe is 352-294 = 16%
Mangers favor the Cubs.
The Cubs regular season net runs averaged +1.56 per game.
The Tribe's regular season net runs averaged +0.62 per game.
Offensive and defense scoring favors the Cubs.
"Not not picking the Cubs" doesn't sound like too bad an idea. :)
“If the Cubbies win “
I wonder too, if Bob Dylan wins the Nobel Prize and the Cubs win the World Series, all bets for anything are off! LOL
I think the CUBS win, they beat Bumgardner and Kershaw to get there and that is a task.
Check the Cubs’ favorable matchups on post #43.
Looking good for the Cubbies, but they’re in a dog fight against the Tribe. Should be a good series.
Gotta go with The Tribe.
Francona 8-0 in the Really Big Game, Chief Wahoo unbowed after being sued in Toronto for being politically incorrect, and the ghost of Bob Feller— who is still pissed about Bill Stewart’s botched pick off call in the ‘48 series.
Cubbies win the series at Wrigley. You saw it here.
6-0. Some tough Tribe pitching tonight.
After tonight’s shutout, I’m losing confidence in the Cubs....
I like this high school senior's prediction...in 1993
Maddon is terrific but with his pedigree in the WS (9-0 now), you gotta give Tito the edge in terms of managers.
Cubs can still be in good shape IF they win game 2, if they go down 0-2, that would be worrisome. Good news, The rest of their rotation isn’t as good as Kluber. And Miller threw a lot of pitches.
Arrieta ... time to step up
game time moved up to 7pm WED
700pm ET
The start of what looks like could be a good series.
Don’t forget, the Dodgers shut out the Cubs TWICE with TWO lights-out pitchers, Kershaw and Hill, like the Tribe did last night with Kluber and Miller. But the Dodgers were unable to maintain that level of pitching perfection against the Cub’s MLB’s # 3 offense, and likewise, I think the Tribe will have difficulty keeping this good team down.
Today’s game features the Cub’s Arrieta, with a regular-season ERA of 3.10 vs. the Tribe’s Bauer regular-season ERAs of 4.26 who may not make it because of his finger problem. If Bauer bombs, then who for the Tribe? A possibly tired Miller? Edge to Cubbies.
The third game will feature the Cub’s Hendricks, with a regular-season ERA of 2.13 vs. the Tribe’s Tomlin, with a regular-season ERA of 4.40. Cubs look much better here.
The fourth game will feature the Cub’s Lackey, with a regular-season ERA of 3.35 vs. possibly tired Kluber and Miller again, with regular-season ERAs of 3.14 and 1.55 respectively or maybe Shaw with a regular-season ERA of 3.24. If it’s Kluber and Miller, this game could end up looking like the Cub’s vs. Dodgers game where the Dodgers tried to use Kershaw again on short rest and got blanked. If it’s Shaw, then it could be a close game with the edge possibly to the Tribe.
Looks like the odds are the Cubbies should take today’s game in Cleveland and at least two out of three in Chicago and I think in one of the remaining two games, the Cubbies overpower the Tribe who may run out of gas.
Then again, the house of cards I just built could collapse in an instant.
Thanks for the reminder that today’s game starts at 4pm PT.
I think we see the lefty Merritt as the backup to Bauer.
I don’t expect Miller today ... but he could handle a few batters. I am sure Tito prefers that he be unavailable until game 3
Really, Merritt? Well in the regular season, he only pitched in four games and a total of eleven innings, but his ERA is a very good 1.64.
Well, if 3.10 ERA Arrieta got into trouble, I guess the Cubbies could counter with Zastryzny (say that three times fast) who in the regular season pitched in eight games and sixteen innings, and his ERA is a lights out 1.13.
Does anyone else like this Fox MLB Playoff panel with A-Rod, Pete Rose & Co.? I usually don’t watch these panels, but most of these guys are actual players who love the game, not”expert” journalists who often love to talk more about the distracting controversies than the actual game.
These guys are having fun up there and Pete Rose who I used to not like seems to come across like a pretty good guy who zings off into space once in a awhile, but it’s all taken in good humor and nobody seems to take themselves too seriously which is refreshing.
