Rosie O'Donnell's teenage daughter secretly married a man 12 years older than her over the summer but hid the news from her famous mother, it was revealed on Tuesday.
The TV host only found out that Chelsea O'Donnell was married when she tried to visit her in the hospital over Labor Day weekend, where Chelsea was staying allegedly because of her depression.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, Chelsea, 19, married Nicholas Alliegro, 31, on July 1 at Islip Town Hall on Long Island, New York after eight months of dating. Few knew of the nuptials, including her famous mother.
The exclusive report said Chelsea was hospitalized on Labor Day and Rosie called the hospital to check up on her. However, she was told by hospital staff that they could only release this information to Chelsea's husband. This was news to Rosie who tried to tell the staff member that her daughter wasn't married and this must be a case of mistaken identity. (snip)
As for why she never told her family that she got hitched to Nicholas, a plumber by trade, "they were concerned that [Rosie] wouldn't approve," the source said. But, his immediate family was informed in the days after the wedding took place. "They were shocked but they love Chelsea," the source added.
Chelsea has changed her name on Instagram from Chelsea O'Donnell to Chelsea Alliegro.
"Rosie was disappointed but remained calm after hearing the news," the source told the newspaper, adding that Rosie cut her daughter off financially in light of the news.
I thought Rosie didn’t swing that way.
Disappointed, no doubt, that her daughter married a man.
Looks like the kid wants away from her mom’s lunacy, and a normal life?
I am sure the disappointment is that she married a normal man. Good for her! Live without Rosie’s money and just get by or a bit better, and you’ll still be miles ahead.

My mom ran off with my dad when she was 18 and he was 27. They are still married 50 years later. I’m not gonna say they’re super happy about it but they’re still together, lol!
