I think oversaturation has become a problem for the NFL, too — at least in terms of year-to-year ratings. It used to be that you’d have regional games on Sunday afternoons, and one nationally televised game on Monday nights. Now you’ve got football all over the TV schedule, and with the NFL Network and the internet you can get your fill of football games and other football-related content 24 hours a day.

I wish I could boycott the NFL but, I haven’t watched an entire football game since Janet Jackson had that wardrobe malfunction at the Superbowl half time.

I remember the days when the halftime show at an NFL game consisted of a local high school marching band.

I don't think I've watched an NFL game in 20 years. The introduction of astro turf was the beginning of the death of the game IMHO.

The NFL is two steps from becoming the NBA - large negroes exerting themselves.

Hey, at least the NBA has a code of conduct which states that all players shall stand respectfully at attention during the national anthem. Too bad the NFL coiu;dn't manage that.

So maybe knock it off with the race-baiting, and admit that the NBA is probably being smarter than the NFL with respect to not offending its fans and not hurting revenue.

The NFL's like the Democrat Party - - corrupt white liberal elites propped up by a large black underclass...

Plus when Goddell bitch slapped the Cowboys for wanting to honor the Dallas Police after their murders but forcing pink on all uniforms every month for the PC disease.

That was a total slap in the face...

Well said, in my view that’s what the NFL has become.

The ratings are down by at least one person because of the National Anthem stunts. I’m not watching.

I saw all that trash on the news.

I quit watching the NFL in 1993 when the Houston Oilers half-tie score against the Buffalo Bills was 35-3 and the Oilers lost the game. See here.

So why were ratings up the last two years?

Pro football was better before the American Football League (AFL) merged with the National Football League (NFL) in 1970.

Those were the days when the Minnesota Vikings had an elite defensive unit known as the Purple People Eaters, while the defense of the Los Angeles Rams--my team--was led by the Fearsome Foursome. Coaches could have radically different recruiting strategies. The Rams' George Allen built his team with trades, while the Dallas Cowboys' Tom Landry built his with drafts. Superbowl half time shows featured marching bands, not rap, disco and strippers.

And I contend that the AFL was more exciting to watch before it merged with the NFL. I'll never forget the Heidi Game of 1968, in which the Oakland Raiders, led by quarterback "Mad Bomber" Daryle La Monica beat the New York Jets led by "Broadway Joe" Namath by scoring two back-to-back touchdowns in nine seconds of playing time.

I haven’t watched one minute of one game. And it’s going to stay that way. The NFL is irredeemable. Gone with the wind like the GOPe. IMHO. My personal “boycotts” are always permanent.
