If it is now obvious he has lost so much support that he will lose next month, he could announce that he is resigning immediately as the Republican nomination in favor of Mike Pence. He could even let Pence take the next 2 debates. That would be a political earthquake.
You are wrong. The press wants to turn Trump into Paula Deen over this. He needs to brush it off as mild compared to Bill and Hillary antics.

Never was a nevertrumper. Just as a relatively aware New Yorker I had no illusions about his character or his lack of self control. I’ve been seeing it for 30+ years. I fully understand his attractiveness to anyone who has rightly grown angrier these last 8 years. His ideas, sometimes very crudely expressed, are felt by many Americans to be the direction the country should be taking. But none of that changes the fact that for all his success, which is genuine, Donald Trump is a narcissitic pig and anyone familiar with him knew something like this was out there just waiting to be dropped. And believe me there are more, like outtakes from Howard Stern and Imus. Like I said, he’s dead Jim. Only thing left to see is if he shreds Bill and Hill and treats the rest of this campaign like the Russians did to their lands in the face of Napoleon.

Actually after his early results I figured he would win. The media, particularly the shakers and movers in the Big Three knew him well. They all went to the same parties. The NBC crowd even paid him for good ratings for ten years. They wanted him to win the primaries. They knew, however zealous his supporters were, that to win the election he would have to reach out to many others. They knew that would be difficult to impossible because of his character and the goods they had on him ( you don’t really think Clinton’s people found this tape? NBC handed it to her just as the roof was about to cave from Assange) So they gave him all that air time. Soft balled his interviews. Attacked each of his most dangerous contenders. Once he won the nomination they attacked. You think the fact that every network reaction to his acceptance speech highlighted the word dark was an accident? From day one this has been an effort to elect a seriously ill, self entitled old woman with no accomplishments to call her own, save who she married. Once Trump announced and showed primary strength he became the foil, a victim of conspiracy and his own YUUGE ego.
Right now it looks like Congress, both houses, will remain Republican. If Trump is forced out or chooses to leave, his supporters will likely take Election Day off. The at the least the Dems take the Senate. No, Trump has to stay in .

Well, he shredded the clintons badly. The question is, are people like you feeling sadly about it today. He spilt quarts of clinton blood on Sunday and everybody knows it.
Did you happen to notice the wikileaks release that supports my statement that Clinton wanted Trump to do well and maybe win the primaries because he would be easiest to defeat? A miscalculation on her part but also indicative of her people having a great deal of damaging oppo-research on him and the ability to release it through their media friends when the need arises. See today’s pedophile rape accusation. As for the debate. He did well and was on offense. He had a good take on policies, especially tax and eco. His two big lines were a big hit and a big miss. The Lincoln line was a fat pitch and he hit it out. The jail line sounded good here on FR but gave the media a chance to treat him like Stalin or Castro who puts his enemies in jail. That’s the meme that will spread widely.I doubt he lost any backers but I don’t think he added many. And Clinton didn’t lose composure, didn’t collapse, didn’t have a seizure. So I doubt she lost much if any support.
