Is it just me, am I getting old or was there actually a day and age when folks dined out and acted civil?
Seems as I recall my Grandmother telling me "when we go out be on your best behavior".
When did we lost this?

During the ‘let it all hang out’/’if it feels good do it’ era. I also remember being told to be on our best behavior before going out....and we dressed for the occassion. Im sad these days are gone.

One of the happiest days of my life was when my kids got too old to want to go to Chuck E Cheese. I hated that place with a passion. Cardboard pizza, watered down beer, and the noise of 400 undisciplined kids screaming at the top of their lungs. Spending $40 for a plastic cup of tokens that later transformed into several hundred prize tickets that could get exchanged for a cheap plastic toy that invariably broke by the time you pulled back in your driveway.
I'll never forget that night. I came home from work on a Friday night and asked them where they wanted to go to dinner - knowing it was Chuck E Cheese every time before. But this time, they screamed "Applebees".
Only a minor step up on the casual eating circuit but an important milestone nevertheless.

The pizza is not good enough to fight over, people.
Now mess with my Pizza Hut or Dominoes’ pizza and you’ve got WWW III!

Back in the olden days, bars were the places for fights. Never where kids might be around.

Seems as I recall my Grandmother telling me "when we go out be on your best behavior". When did we lost this? When my wife wants to throw a birthday party for the grandkids and suggest Chucky Cheese it is always Nope I wont do Chucky Cheese.
Cheap nasty pizza and cheap nasty customers who dont discipline their kids.
Chucky Cheese serves beer. So you have low class people getting drunked up and letting their kids run wild playing video games.
Then when the kids start fighting that leads to the parents fighting.
So there you have the recipe for this sort of behavior in public.

Is it just me, am I getting old or was there actually a day and age when folks dined out and acted civil?Maybe it's as simple as "the day before the first Chuck E. Cheese opened" ? (Or maybe opened in a certain kind of neighborhood.)

The Chuck E Cheese in my town is in a decent part of town, but for many years, you couldn’t take white kids there due to an overabundance disruptive blacks. Seems to be a magnet.

Yes, there was a day when this would never have happened. In certain groups they possess no shame or manners or class. Feel so sorry for the kids.
