Amazing, isn’t it? I don’t know if they took war into account. Because if that is counted as murder, it seems like it should make man the most murderous mammal.

It seems that war is not the worst thing.

Professor Rudolf Rummel studied government murder, such as the German-Jewish Holocaust, and mass murder under Stalin and Mao. He found that for everyone person who died in war between governments, 6 died at the hand of their own government.

I war that wiped out 20% of the population is rare and devastating. We would have to be at that rate continuously to match the meerkat in this study.

Man is not included on thet list which lists proportion of deaths from same species vs all other species. We are the ultimate Apex predator. I am sure all the snake bites, spider bites, shark attacks and pit bull maulings are small in total number compared with man killing man.
